Unapologetically unorthodox.
That defines my faith and the church I belong to.
And because of that, I tend to not agree with the majority of the Christian world on many doctrines.
And they are heavy doctrines too.
Some that most Christians scratch their head and gladly debate me about lol
But here's the big ones, and I think this is why at the end of the day, we all don't argue 'that much'.
Christ is Lord and Savior.
He died for our sins.
His righteousness and grace is all that matters.
Those are the big ones.
Now overall, while I agree with the 'big ones' I've been known to take 1 Peter 3:15 to heart and defend my faith. And it's not for the reasons most people may think, it's never to 'be right'...
It's to glorify God in everything I do.
Especially in the world of apologetics, this can be a blessing and a curse because in my time of 'defending the faith' I have seen a TON of ego and pride in the discussions.
That's why when I started going back and forth with a fellow Christian here on chain, I was very happy that we agreed to disagree....But it never got personal or disrespectful.
If you have followed the back and forth that I had with @yalloveme over the past few weeks, you'll see that....We literally didn't agree on some verses and specific doctrines concerning the Sabbath day, but it never got personal.
Which is SUPER rare in the world of apologetics.
Take a look anywhere online, and anytime some people of different faiths start talking it almost always gets personal. Nasty in fact.
And I truly believe, that does not glorify God. At all...
Not very Christlike!
And I'm the first to admit, I've gotten very passionate at times when defending my faith, even here on chain which again, does not glorify God at all, and ends up sinning my soul because...The people we 'debate' with are children of God, just like every single person on the planet.
Christ died for them, just like He died for you and me.
Just because we disagree, does not mean we should get personal.
Going back to the 'big issues', here's the message I really wanted to write about tonight...
God being glorified. In everything we do.
I really want to make this the priority in my life. I have been reading a fantastic book recently, and today on chain reminded me of something I highlighted in it last night...
That last part really stuck with me....
The more we use our knowledge and exercise our powers, the more knowledge and power we shall have.....
Less about me, and more about God. His glory!
And the author really showed that the more we rely on Him, the more good we do for...Him. I think that's a pretty good deal if you ask me.
