Bangkok Day 4: Enchanting Baan Suan Sathon Cafe

baansuan.jpg

This Bangkok series is finally closing, and I am just grateful for all the experiences, the kilos we gained, the laughter we cherished, and the memories we are bringing home. Truly, I am ever thankful to God for this opportunity and, of course, my husband's company, who was the reason why we were able to travel here. This trip was a company incentive, and we were able to bring our family members too, which was a great benefit.

Just to let you know, this incentive is for those who have been with the company for at least 5 years, and here are the trips from the past years as my husband has been with this company for 14 years now:

2018: Taipei 2019: Malaysia (we skipped because I got pregnant) 2020: Pandemic (no travel, funds converted to cash) 2021: Pandemic (no travel, funds converted to cash) 2022: Singapore 2023: Hong Kong 2024: Bangkok, Thailand 2025: Saigon, Vietnam 2026: Seoul, South Korea

I am actually excited about what next year's destination will be. But for now, let's close this series. If you have been following, here are the previous blogs about our Bangkok 2024 trip:

Since we got a few more hours to spare before we'd travel to the airport, we decided to do a mall tour. After all our energy was spent at the mall, the seniors (my parents) decided to go back to the hotel, while my husband and I, together with my niece and son, went on a cafe visit.

In my search, the nearest cafe to us at that time was the Baan Suan Sathon Cafe, and so off we went!

We took an Uber ride going to the cafe. It was still early, around three in the afternoon, when we reached the cafe. There were a few customers around but not crowded; we found a table just right behind this cutesy house. Walking inside, we found it enchanting, with smoke and mist effects in different corners of the cafe. It has a wide area, and they also have indoor options plus a garden, which was still a work in progress during our visit.

But first, we had to order food and drinks! It was just a "fika" time for us, so we ordered some desserts and coffee. I honestly couldn't remember the pricing, and I was too shy to take photos of the menu, but it was a bit on the expensive side!

However, when our orders were served, they looked absolutely stunning and tempting!

thailand-5 (1 of 72).jpg Strawberry cheesecake? I totally had forgotten what its name on the menu was, but for sure it's a cheesecake! It's my niece's order.

It was also beautiful from the top view! What's beside it? You guessed it right! It's mango and sticky rice!

This was the most expensive mango and sticky rice we had in Bangkok. It was even more expensive than the one we had at Berkeley Hotel, but this was yum!

My little one was astounded when his order of chocolate lava drink came! This was super huge!

My coffee vs. my husband's. I ordered an iced Spanish latte while he ordered his only request all the date - Hot Coffee latte.

We got fries and a crunchy ham and cheese stick, which got a mayo ketchup sauce on the side. We ate a little bit of our orders and started exploring the entire cafe!

First off was, of course, the beautiful structure at our table's back! The circular glass window was inviting! We checked that this was another separate room for the cafe guests. Perhaps it was intended for some intimate gathering or events; the interiors were absolutely gorgeous!

Our family picture has been a favorite of mine! I love my son's expression here and of how we were framed by the beautiful orchids and the plant roots hanging from above.

The cafe is also home to hundreds of these koi fish; they have a pond that goes all around the center of the cafe. The kois are all looking healthy and were already fond of people, so they would camp around the area where there were guests. The cafe allows feeding them; the fish food is available for purchase.

There's also a little waterfall, and mind you, it's super relaxing, especially when the mist comes up. They built a lounge just across the waterfall, and when you stay there, you'll surely get refreshed and relaxed hearing the water splash, and you'll get a view of the koi fish pond too!

One huge indoor option here is this building with glass walls and ancient-looking doors! The doors look intricate with all the detailing done on it but its age isn't to be ignored; even if that's the case, its beauty is still obviously attention-capturing!

I love the door so much I had to take a photo with it! There were also so many flowers and orchids around the cafe. I missed taking photos of the other side, where there was another building, but there was no air conditioning when we passed it, so we didn't consider staying there. This one has air conditioning, though.

Inside, I felt like it was another cafe! There were murals and interesting details here. This wall painting with the oil and coffee was like a star of the space. I took photos of my niece here and then I requested my son and I get to have shots taken too!

thailand-5 (49 of 72).jpg

Here are the details inside the cafe. They offer a lot of drink options, they got coffee, tea, and a whole lot more! Oh and wine too!

Is it just me? I really thought she was doing some science experiments! No, she's just making coffee!

Amazing doors; it felt like if I opened these doors, I'd get transported somewhere magical! Up to the second floor, we have a good view of the cafe. There were so many plants and fauna around; there were, in fact, some birds too, which I forgot to take a photo of!

thailand-5 (62 of 72).jpg

This glass dome was also available on the second floor. I didn't dare look inside, though; there was a lone table, but not sure if there's air conditioning. I bet it would be super hot inside as it's enclosed, so I suppose there was some sort of ventilation provided.

After touring around, we also checked the under-construction area, and I was amazed once again by this structure with rock walls and beautifully made interiors. I immediately took a mini pictorial of my niece while inside and even outside in their garden area.

Here were some of my shots:

And that's it. After this, we went back to the hotel, booked a cab to Don Mueang International Airport, and had dinner there. We arrived in Manila by morning. I took a video of the cafe as well, which you can check here:
