This microfiction story is for the prompt "carriage". It reminds me of the old fashioned buggies that were used in the late 18th century to early 20th century as a mode of transportation. I share a flash fiction story about that era. A ZAPFIC50 story is told in exactly 50 words. The challenge was created by @felt.buzz.

Below is my story.
Delivery day. Excitement stirred as neighbors gathered at the Milford's brownstone. Milford stepped onto the sidewalk to welcome their new carriage.
The horse rounded the corner. An unexpected siren screeched, frightening the horse. It reared up, then bolted down the cobbled street.
"That contraption is lightning fast," Milford replied, astonished.

El día de la entrega. La emoción se apoderó de los vecinos mientras se reunían frente a la casa de piedra rojiza de los Milford. Milford salió a la acera para dar la bienvenida a su nuevo carruaje.
El caballo dobló la esquina. De repente, sonó una sirena inesperada que asustó al animal. Este se encabritó y salió a toda velocidad por la calle empedrada.
«Ese artilugio es rapidísimo», respondió Milford, asombrado.
