Witness To the Awakening | LMAC FreeStyle Collage No. 178

LMAC-FreeStyle-No178-WitnessToTheAwakening.jpg

It's been several weeks since my last freestyle collage for the LMAC Community. For this design, I decided to create a fantasy setting theme involving Greek mythology. I love Greek mythology, and grew up reading all the adventures. In my story, I place Zeus in a vicarious position where an awakening is attempted. Although the most powerful of the Greek entities, the mighty Zeus of Mount Olympus is powerless to wake his newest offspring.

I hope you enjoy.

In October, @agmoore, Moderator, in the Let's Make A Collage Community announced to community members and Hive as a while a way to continue. The new changes, I believe are an inventive way below to kick off the new LMAC and make it fun for all to participate with no pressure.

And the best part about it is that FREESTYLE COLLAGES continue to be welcomed in the community.

Witness To the Awakening

Whispers spread among those gathered until a consensus was reached. Absolutely, a divine intervention had occurred that they were privileged to be a witness. She was one of his own created from a single breath from his nostril. Yet, she was forbidden to wake. For his wife would have no part in his adulterous behavior.

So she languished there. Asleep as he watched over her.

Gathering his ravens to bear witness also, they screeched until her story was spread to all flying creatures. But none would advise Zeus for fear of Hera.

She was unlike him or his other hundreds of children. Long, silky chestnut strands rest peacefully around her exquisite honey scorched skin.

Equally powerful was his wife, Hera, who resents his extra-marital affairs that produced numerous children. She has declared war on gods and demi-gods who attend and support her husband. She will not rest until the newest addition to his clan is cast out from Mount Olympus. Curses were placed on those who dared challenge her and side with Zeus.

It was Hera who placed the sleeping curse on his daughter so that she would never walk their sacred halls. The prophesy foretold of his daughter and the upheaval she would bring upon Mount Olympus should she be allowed to live. The child's beauty and unusual birth will draw all to her, threatening to supplant Hera and even Zeus.

Zeus knows of the curse, but desires that she lives so that he can influence her.

But first, Zeus must find a way to waken his most beloved daughter he has sired yet. He hasn't named her, hoping to derive inspiration from the mortal crowd who has gathered to witness his creation.

As supreme ruler, Zeus strictly enforces who lives and dies. He desperately desires to save his daughter; however, his own law forbids him from doing so. He previously brought his own son back to life. Afterward, he resurrected Apollo's son, who was a superior god of medicine.

However, Zeus is running out of time to resurrect her, else she'll return to dust.

Zeus has opposition on all fronts. But it's Hera he most desires to avoid a war with.

In preparing my theme, I wanted to portray a lovely female unlike any residing on Mount Olympus as described in Greek Mythology. I located a lovely photo of a female body protruding out of a mountain. Perfect for my design. A floating mountain would suffice as her lower body.

I used the hourglass to symbolize the time running out for the awakening to occur, else dire circumstances will prevail.

Of course, to have witnesses, you must include a group of onlookers. My attempt to separate the common people in their land compared to the deities residing on Mount Olympus I feel worked in this instance with the floating mountain.

I utilized Canva to blend the different type images. Below are my steps in which I began with a blank, white canvas, then added layers of elements, removing backgrounds, resizing, duplicating, detaching elements from their backgrounds, colorizing, and repositioning items as needed incorporating the tools at my disposal in my Annual Pro Membership Subscription.

What an interesting twist on Greek mythology! Zeus has really gotten himself into a bind this time. I find it amusing that even as supreme ruler of Mount Olympus, he's still afraid of his own wife. With the tension between the two powerful gods and the prophecy suggesting that this mysterious daughter could change the balance of power, there's certainly trouble brewing on Olympus. I wonder how Zeus intends to get around the laws he enforces.

Beautifully written, and your collage complements the short story so well. Take care and have a beautiful day. 🌹
