The fact is that there is a difference between what is morally right and what the law says and another thing is that a crime is a crime first the intentions come second. This is how life is. There is absolutely nothing we can do about it. When it comes to morality it becomes a different ball game entirely. Morality checks intent, and actions. Morality is biased because it also puts emotions into question, and at the end of the day, we are left wondering what is actually right. Is killing okay if a person kills a rapist, is killing okay if it is a corrupt politician. Is stealing okay if it was taken from an armed robber, a kidnapper or a thief in general. There are parts of morality that will argue that it’s okay because the people deserve what they got coming to them, but at the end of the day is it really okay?
You know movies tend to paint these pictures very clearly, you see the protagonist and the antagonist at each other's throat and everyone subconsciously wants the protagonist to kill his enemy and wants the antagonist to die in a very gruesome and satisfying way. This is the same reason why a thief is caught on the streets of Nigeria and what we call jungle justice takes over the matter. The next thing you see is random people carrying tyres and looking for petrol to burn the thief to aches before the police take them away. In their eyes the police would not render the justice the thief or thieves deserves and to them what they deserve is to die screaming. But what if the thief just wants to feed his family and has to steal out of desperation does it change the fact that he is not a thief and does it make the people who want to burn him alive more monsters than they already are? Why does intent and emotions always seem to have a place over morality, this is exactly why at the end of the day Justice is best.
People think they know what justice is until they see the line between emotions and the law. If a person finds an opportunity to kill a bad person and does it without the person even trying to harm them, the law calls it murder no matter how you tend to argue it. Some people might say the person is saving a lot of lives the bad person would have killed, but regardless the law calls it murder. So long the death of the bad person did not come in self defence, it is murder. You will find out that the question of morality and conscience comes up when emotions are involved or when it involves someone close. This is why at the end of the day the law is the law, and it should be followed regardless. It might be morally right and still be a crime. Killing and stealing at the end of the day are crimes because you could have taken it from the thieves and found a way to reach the owners but you choose to keep it because you loved the idea also.
