I consider myself a very fast learner because I've seen myself hack into the knowledge of a lot of things that people struggle with, with their brains almost popping out, just to master. I have also discovered that most of these things I master with ease are usually the things I have a great interest in and also the things within the circle that my brain easily comprehends. Whenever it comes to things that are outside that circle, I struggle very hard to understand them.
What do I mean by this?
In the technology field, be it the use of phones, laptops, apps, AI, cryptocurrency, and also in the education field, such as engineering-related subjects, once I set my mind to learning how they work and how to make use of them, I easily flow and gain the knowledge within a short time. But when it comes to areas where I don't find any interest, my brain struggles with them.
During my NYSC days, I had a colleague who was very good at playing the guitar, both lead and bass guitar, and I thought that since I was away from home with fewer activities to occupy me, I should learn. I told the guy and he agreed to teach me and on the first day of our lecture, he brought out a paper and began to write something.
"Bro, I think we should be practical about this thing and not do it with books?" I told him when he gave me the written material to read instead of going straight into playing the guitar.
"No oooh! Since you don't have any idea, it's ideal to start with these things I've written," he responded, and that was it.
I couldn't just get my brain to settle down and read the things he wrote for me, and I gave up.
Till today, anytime I see people playing the guitar, I see them as if they are performing magic. Lol.
When I was venturing into the world of cryptocurrency, I was so eager to know how things worked, especially how to change my crypto to fiat. I was never a fan of sending the crypto to someone to help me do the trading.
Back in the days when Binance suspended the deposit of Hive, and I wasn't used to other exchanges, and I think none of the major exchanges in those days allowed deposits of Hive, I had to learn a very elongated process to sell my Hive coins. I remember it was Princessbusayo who taught me the process, and although the process was so long, I found it very easy to assimilate. I used the method very well back then until I found another alternative and other exchanges showed up.
Although I still don't know most of the cryptocurrency transaction processes, such as reading charts and others, which currently appear difficult to me, the truth is that I haven't just given it a shot at learning them. Because if I do, I'm going to find it easy too.
