Hello, everyone—Hive friends!
Today I’m here to share a story that started out as one of those scares that leave you frozen for a couple of seconds, but ended up being one of the best things that’s happened to us this year at CBIT.
The “Big Little Mistake” of the Week
It all started a few days ago. I was on the Cashea app checking prices, browsing robotics kits, and crunching the numbers to see how we at CBIT could get a new mechatronics project off the ground. With me was Rosa Silva, who is truly my right-hand woman in all of this—and without her, none of this would run the same. We make an awesome team!
The thing is, I was there, looking at components, tapping the screen, comparing models… and suddenly—boom! I accidentally tapped the wrong button and placed an order for the entire kit.
The moment I saw the confirmation, my mind went blank. I said to Rosa: “No way, look what I did!”. At first, we laughed nervously, but two minutes later we looked at each other and said: “Well, you know what? God knows why He does things. The time is now.”
So without thinking too much about it, the two of us took on the challenge together. We paid the down payment all at once and made plans to pay off the remaining installments.
It’s finally here! Live unboxing.
Well, I can’t even begin to describe how excited we were when the box arrived! Here are some photos of the whole process:
First, here’s how the package arrived, packed by the shipping company:
We headed straight to the work table at CBIT to tear open the bag and check if everything had arrived:
And here it is: an RFID UNO Kit, perfect for getting down to some serious tinkering with electronics and programming.
It comes with a little bit of everything: a breadboard, light sensors, LEDs in various colors, an LCD screen, a servo motor, a remote control, the main board, and plenty of jumper wires.
Here we are, focused on going through each piece one by one and coming up with our first ideas for what we’re going to build:
And of course, the obligatory photo of us beaming with joy with our new toy:
What’s the point of all this?
This isn’t just something to keep on a shelf. The goal with this kit is huge:
- Build real prototypes: We want to create mechatronics projects that go beyond theory and serve as useful prototypes to drive the productive engines of our state and the country.
- Teach the kids: We want to train our robotics team. We want the kids to learn how to build, program, and lose their fear of technology.
Our goal is clear: we want to be the leaders in robotics in our municipality and prove that there’s plenty of talent here to achieve world-class results.
Sometimes glitches on your phone lead to good things. We’re excited, motivated, and brimming with ideas. We’re in for days of coding, soldering, cables everywhere, and lots of testing.
