October 2026: My People, Please, What Is Really Going On?

October is gradually coming to an end, and honestly, I don't know whether to laugh, cry or simply ask some people if everything is okay upstairs. Because the kind of things that happened this month are enough to make someone question humanity.

Let me share two incidents that I came across recently because, honestly, I am still trying to process them. The first story goes likee then. It all happened because a reader takes a fictional relationship personally.

There is this Facebook page I love reading novels from, the author is incredibly talented. I mean, when you read her stories, you don't just read them, you imagine yourself inside the story. You become emotionally invested in the characters, their relationships, their struggles and everything happening around them.

Now, there is this particular fan who is a huge supporter of one character in the author's ongoing series. This fan has already decided who his favourite character must end up with. Unfortunately, as the story unfolds, things are not looking good for his preferred couple. In fact, the two characters are currently on such bad terms that you would think they were sworn enemies.

Instead of patiently waiting to see how the author intends to develop the storyline, this fan decided to take matters into his own hands. He started threatening the author, telling her that if his favourite character did not eventually end up with the person he wanted, he would do something terrible to her.

And to make the threat even more frightening, he claimed he knew where she lived! Abeg, wetin be this? 😭So because two fictional characters are not getting along, the real-life author should now be afraid for her life? Is it not a novel you are reading? When did reading romance turn into a matter of life and death?

Imagine being an author, sitting somewhere peacefully, creating fictional drama for people's entertainment, only for one reader to bring real-life threats into the equation. Some people really need to understand that loving a fictional character does not give you ownership of the author's imagination.

The second story is a real life drama that happened few house away from mine. The man who waited until someone else collected the girl he claimed he love but couldn't tell her. This one made me laugh so hard because I honestly didn't know whether to sympathise with the guy or ask him what exactly he was expecting.

Apparently, there was this guy who liked a particular girl but didn't have the courage to tell her how he felt, the funniest part is they are living in the same house. He kept his feelings to himself, hoping perhaps that the girl would magically understand what was going on in his mind. The girl's friend told him to do the needful if he truly wants her but he kept postponing it.

Unfortunately for him, another guy came along, was bold enough to express his feelings, and eventually won the girl's heart. That was when the real drama started, Our shy admirer suddenly began behaving strangely around the house. Whenever the girl's boyfriend came visiting, he would find one excuse or another to pick a fight with him.

He even fought with the girl, apparently because she failed to understand his feelings for her despite all the signs he believed he had been showing.Imagine being angry with someone for not accepting a relationship you never actually proposed! 😂My brother, how exactly was she supposed to know? Did you send her a memo? Did you submit an application? Did you officially inform her that she was already your girlfriend in your heart? The funniest part is that someone else had the courage to speak up, while you were busy expecting her to become a mind reader.

At the end , he shifted the whole this on the girl's friend blaming her for being a bad friend poisoning her friend's mind against him and it turned physical. But what make me laugh really well is the girl retaliation. The guy slapped her without doing anything for and the people around told the girl not to fight him. But the girl the not forgive him for the slaps and waited until he cooked his dinner.

He and his friends went to play football and the girl sneaked in and poured a whole sachet of salt on the pot of cooked beans and honestly his reaction is worth watching over and over again.

Honestly, some people will not communicate their feelings, but they expect you to understand their silence, interpret their body language and somehow arrive at the correct conclusion. Now, let's talk. Between someone threatening a novelist because fictional characters might not end up together and someone fighting a girl because she didn't recognise an unexpressed love, I honestly don't know which one deserves the bigger question mark. October, you have really shown us things, but on a serious note, threatening an author is never acceptable, and nobody should be made to feel guilty or unsafe because they cannot read another person's mind.

Thanks for checking on my blog and have a wonderful day
