[Magelang, Indonesia] Alaswatu Coffee & Kitchen A Refreshing Escape

In the past, people solely go to coffee shop to either drink coffee or conduct a business meeting. These days, coffee shops and cafe have transformed their function. Such as this one, Alaswatu which is set amid green rice fields in Borobudur offering an temporary peaceful escape.

Alaswatu is not a big cafe and located a bit further from Borobudur and a bit hidden. However, its close proximity to luxurious resorts in the area creates its own market for high-end coffee boutiques and coffee shops. This was something new I found as I only explored the place a few weeks back during a safari trip with my mother's associates. We enjoyed the excursion around the area and passed through this street which made me curious of this cafe.

So, when I had the chance to go by myself, I went to check out this coffee shop called Alaswatu.

At this point, a coffee shop is no longer a place to eat or have coffee but also an escape place. This is probably my controversial opinion that cafe/restaurants these days can be a traveling site rather than eating establishment. Many places in Indonesia is like this, a place to sit down enjoying the view rather than going directly to the view which often is unkempt and dirty.

Perhaps, this coffee culture and spot like this is only for Indonesia. As I don't think this kind of culture exists outside where coffee shop is more than just a coffee place. At the place, at first I wanted to work from but I ended up just admiring the view and forgetting all about the stressful of work.

If you want a short escape from stress of work, this place is affordable enough to do so. I don't think both my phone could really capture the breathtaking view of the place. You really have to go there by yourself to experience it. Best, if you can also bring your friends around because this is the place where you can share stories, enjoy the view and feel refreshed after you're finished.

Since at the time I bring limited cash with me, I only got their Americano which was pretty refreshing and decent. Again, the highlight was more about the view and I hope to return to this place again soon when I come visit my mother at her place.
