Hi! #Music community, I’m reaching out to you from my hometown, and I’ve brought my friend La Pájara Pinta with me; I found her on the way to the plains, perched on a lemon tree. Oh la la. Here are my three songs, and, as always, a thought: never stop creating moments, because they’ll help you through the tough times. I invite you to channel that energy in your favor.

Life should be celebrated with joy and energy, always affirming that we will achieve our dreams and goals. Above all, we must believe that we deserve all the good things in life. Above all, we must dance until we’re exhausted; even when we reach the age where we forget everything, open the fridge and find something that doesn’t belong there, and repeat names over and over again. Despite everything, let’s be happy, because we don’t know when our inner light will go out.
Every day at dawn, we must celebrate the fact that we open our eyes and breathe. And we must be able to remember our moments of happiness and sadness, because both made us feel. Believe it or not, music is a vehicle that transports us to moments of magic. It knows no borders or time; when a song reaches the soul and touches the heart, it’s never forgotten; when you hear it, you can relive the moments when you were captivated by its performer, rhythm, and lyrics.
The songs from my youth and childhood bring back fond memories of my older siblings and the groups, bands, and solo artists they loved. Some young people say that the songs from the ’70s and ’80s are “old-school,” but they managed to stand the test of time and never go out of style. This time, I’m firing up my time machine to share with you the songs and the voices that made them famous.
But first, I’m going to take a trip around the world until I reach Spain—the land of “ole,” home to Miguel de Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Pablo Picasso, Francisco de Goya, Federico García Lorca, Antonio Machado, and many others. Likewise, in music, Spain has been the birthplace of great composers, singers, bands, and groups that have achieved international success and whose songs are musical classics. Among them are Raphael, Camilo Sexto, Mecano, La Oreja de Van Gogh, Julio Iglesias, Nino Bravo, Alejandro Sanz, Mari Trini, and Rocío Dúrcal, among others.
I’m sharing with the #Music community, @ablaze, and #ThreeTuneTuesday three songs and a little Venezuelan treat by Spanish singers who rose to fame in the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s. Their hits have stayed in the memories of many people who, like me, love romantic music and timeless ballads. These songs are still played on the radio because they bring back memories of times gone by.

La vida hay que celebrarla con alegría y energía, siempre afirmar que vamos a conseguir nuestros sueños y metas. Sobre todo, creer que merecemos todo lo bueno. Sobre todo, hay que bailar hasta el cansancio; aun cuando estemos en la edad donde todo se nos olvida, abrimos la nevera y encontramos un objeto que no corresponde, los nombres y repetimos todas muchas veces. A pesar de todo, ser felices, pues no sabemos cuándo se apaga la luz interna.
Cada día al amanecer hay que celebrar por abrir los ojos y respirar. Y poder recordar nuestras etapas de felicidad y de tristeza, porque ambas nos hicieron sentir. Aunque no lo crea, la música es un vehículo que permite llevarnos a momentos de magia. No tiene fronteras ni tiempo; cuando una canción llega al alma y toca el corazón, nunca se olvida; al escucharla se pueden revivir los momentos en los cuales se deleitaron con su intérprete, ritmo y letra.
Las canciones de mis años de juventud y mi niñez me hacen recordar con cariño a mis hermanos mayores y los grupos, bandas y solistas que les gustaban. Algunos jóvenes dicen que las canciones de los años 70 y 80 son de la "vieja guardia", sin embargo, ellas consiguieron imponerse y no pasan de moda. En esta oportunidad enciendo mi máquina del tiempo para compartir con ustedes las canciones y las voces que las hicieron famosas.
Antes, voy a darle una vuelta al mundo hasta llegar a España, la del “ole”, la de Miguel de Cervantes, de Lope de Vega, Pablo Picasso, Francisco de Goya, Federico García Lorca, Antonio Machado, entre otros. Así mismo, en la música, ha sido cuna de grandes compositores, cantantes, bandas y grupos que han tenido éxito internacional y cuyas canciones son clásicos de la música. Cuyos éxitos se quedaron en la memoria de muchas personas que como yo aman la música romántica y baladas de siempre. Estas todavía se escuchan en las estaciones de radio pues recuerdan los momentos vividos.

Let’s Go, Paraulata—The Women Have Arrived
Adolescence is a wonderful time of life, because we have so many hopes in our hearts, dreams to make come true, and goals to achieve. It marks the end of high school and the beginning of college—a time to sow the seeds for the future. For most, the only responsibility was to study. Some didn’t take advantage of the opportunity their parents gave them; they got married and started a life as a couple, while others simply didn’t want to continue.
Women are more complicated than men; they’re concerned with fashion, makeup, and other things. But when it comes to love and heartbreak, they’re all the same. We always look to cry on a friend’s shoulder, singing songs of heartbreak. During those teenage years and our time in school, Spanish singers who achieved international fame rose to prominence, including Paloma San Basilio, Rocío Jurado, Rocío Dúrcal, Isabel Pantoja, Massiel, Mari Trini, Marisol, and Jeanette, among others.
I’ll start with Isabel Pantoja and the song “Marinero de luces”; this ballad was released in 1985 on the album Isabel Pantoja. My mother loved this song; when I hear it, I see her there, smiling alongside my father. Every time he set sail and spent months fishing on the high seas, she lived in fear that something would happen to him and he wouldn’t come back. Until she decided to stay on land and find other things to do. This song reminds me of their love story.
Mom used to tell us how they met and all their stories. My parents’ love was the kind of love that’s truly special—the kind you never forget. From that moment on, they decided to spend their lives together. That’s why I believe in love at first sight. It was Cupid’s arrow striking them—a love that only death can separate. I dedicate this song to the memory of my beautiful mother.

Mari Trini was a Spanish singer-songwriter who began studying music as a teenager. Among her hits are: “Ayúdala,” “Cuando me acaricias,” “Yo no soy esa,” and “Amores,” among others. From her musical repertoire, I selected “Te amaré, te amo y te querré,” which was released in 1993 on the album Sus grandes éxitos.

She had a beautiful voice; however, I think her live performances lacked a bit of passion. That’s just my personal opinion. Still, the lyrics of her songs were poetry set to music.
Rocío Dúrcal was a Spanish singer and the leading figure in the ranchero genre. She began her career in film and music at a very young age; at age ten, she made her debut on a radio station. When we talk about Rocío, we have to “take our hats off to her,” as we Venezuelans say. In other words, she was just as great as the “mother of ice cream.” She was a charismatic Spanish singer, a giant among giants. Among her hits: “La gata bajo la lluvia,” “Amor eterno,” “Ya te olvidé,” “Como tu mujer,” “Frente a frente,” and others.
My favorite song is “Costumbres”: this song was released in 1984 on the album “Canta a Juan Gabriel Volumen 6.”

Believe it or not, “habit is stronger than love…” This song was a hit and is a classic of Hispanic music. A beautiful voice full of emotion. Rocío Dúrcal sang with her soul, passion, and heart. A song by singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel.
Marisol is a Spanish singer who has been involved in music and acting since she was a child. She has appeared in several films, including Tómbola, Ha llegado un ángel, and Solo los dos, among others. Her musical hits include “Háblame del mar, marinero” and “Aquel verano,” among others. Here’s a little Venezuelan treat sung by Marisol, known as “Corazón contento,” released in 1968 on the album Un rayo de sol y canciones. This song was written by the Argentine singer-songwriter Palito Ortega.
As a child, I used to watch her movies; she was very charismatic and likable. Her songs were very catchy. I remember the young woman who smiled and lit up the TV screen, saying, “Life is a raffle…” If we think about it, that’s how life is: some lose and others win. In the world’s raffle…

La adolescencia es una etapa muy bonita, pues tenemos muchos anhelos en el corazón, sueños por cristalizar y metas por cumplir. Finaliza una etapa de estudiante para ingresar a la universidad, época de sembrar para el futuro. Para la mayoría, la única responsabilidad era estudiar. Algunos no aprovecharon la oportunidad que les dieron sus padres; se casaron y asumieron la vida en pareja, y otros no quisieron seguir. Las mujeres son más complicadas que los hombres; están pendientes de la moda, del maquillaje, entre otras cosas. Pero cuando se trata de amores y desamores, son todas iguales. Siempre buscamos llorar en el hombro de una amiga, entonando canciones del despecho. En estos años de adolescencia y estudios, se impusieron cantantes españolas que tuvieron fama internacional, entre ellas: Paloma San Basilio, Rocío Jurado, Rocío Dúrcal, Isabel Pantoja, Massiel, Mari Trini, Marisol, Jeanette, entre otras. Doy inicio con Isabel Pantoja y la canción “Marinero de luces”; esta balada fue lanzada en el año 1985 en el álbum: “Isabel Pantoja”. A mi madre le fascinaba esta canción; cuando la escucho, la veo ahí sonriente junto a mi padre. Cada vez que él se embarcaba y pasaba meses pescando en alta mar, ella vivía atemorizada de que algo le pasara y no regresara. Hasta que decidió quedarse en tierra y buscar otras cosas que hacer. Esta canción me recuerda su historia de amor. Mami nos contaba cómo se conocieron y todas sus anécdotas. El amor de mis padres fue un amor del bueno y de los que no se olvidan. Desde ese instante decidieron unir sus vidas. Por eso creo en el amor a primera vista. Fue un flechazo de Cupido que solo los separa la muerte. A la memoria de mi linda madre dedico esta canción. Aunque sean solo cinco minutos desde que se hayan separado. ¡Suénala, DJ!  Mari Trini fue una cantautora española que inició en su adolescencia sus estudios de música. Entre sus éxitos encontramos: Ayúdala. Cuando me acaricias, yo no soy esa, Amores, entre otras. De su repertorio musical, seleccione: “Te amaré, te amo y te querré” fue lanzada en el año 1993 en el álbum: “Sus grandes éxitos”. Es decir, lo mismo que la mamá de los helados. Fue una cantante española carismática, grande entre las grandes. Entre sus éxitos: La gata bajo la lluvia, Amor eterno, Ya te olvidé, Como tu mujer, Frente a frente, entre otras. Mi canción preferida es: “Costumbres”: esta canción fue lanzada en el año 1984, en el álbum: “Canta a Juan Gabriel Volumen 6”. ¡Suénala, DJ! Les dejo una ñapita venezolana en la voz de Marisol conocida como “Corazón contento”, lanzada en el año 1968 en el álbum: “Un rayo de sol y canciones”. Time passes, but the moments we’ve lived through are never forgotten, for they leave us with memories shared with family, friends, and our partners. They’re also found in the beauty of nature, in a smile—perhaps these are insignificant things, but they’re filled with so much love. Life isn’t perfect, and we aren’t perfect, so why do we seek perfection? I believe we need to create moments to remember that help us keep going when we’re feeling down.
