En los equipos de fútbol, los capitanes suelen llevar en el dorso de la camiseta el número 10. y de hecho, en Argentina, han habido dos jugadores estrella que son recordados por todos casi con la misma intensidad, siendo ellos -además - un modelo a seguir por muchos jóvenes aspirantes a ser futbolistas, pero también, la imagen de ser quienes han explotado todo su potencial en pro de algo que desean lograr.
Y fue justamente esto lo que pensé cuando vi a lo lejos las dos imágenes de los astros del fútbol que han llevado este juego a un nivel superior, siendo en su momento, figuras relevantes que han marcado la historia argentina tanto dentro como fuera de la cancha.
Colocados uno al lado del otro, el Diego y Messi, ven hacia el horizonte, en una especie de plaza con bancos hechos en forma semicircular, como si se tratara de un aforo para que ellos enseñaran sobre su disciplina, hazañas o anécdotas sobre su trayectoria.
Y es que aunque parezca que están fuera de lugar, pues las figuras están en uno de los jardines de la Universidad de Lanús, donde no se imparte ninguna carrera relacionada con el fútbol, la sola presencia de estas estrellas, es una motivación silenciosa a perseguir los sueños, sin importar cuán altos y lejos se vean.
Poder verse reflejados en personas como ellos, debería ser el empuje de muchos jóvenes, que si bien no tengan intereses deportivos, sean capaces de entender que hay un punto en común no solo con la disciplina que les permitió llegar al estrellato, sino también con el hecho de seguir adelante a pesar de las dificultades que se presenten.
En este encuentro, me sentí de cierta manera llamada a ponerme también la camiseta del 10: de ese mismo que estructura la jugada, que hace que las cosas sucedan y que es capaz de lanzarse al equipo al hombro con tal de lograr la meta inicial, e ir luego por la siguiente, hasta llegar a la cima.

And while it may seem out of place—since the statues stand in one of the gardens at the University of Lanús, where no soccer-related degree programs are offered—the mere presence of these stars serves as a silent motivation to pursue one’s dreams, no matter how high or far away they may seem.
Being able to see themselves reflected in people like them should be a source of inspiration for many young people who, even if they aren’t interested in sports, can understand that there is a common thread not only with the discipline that allowed them to reach stardom, but also with the determination to keep moving forward despite any difficulties that arise.
At this event, I felt, in a way, called to put on the No. 10 jersey myself—the very one worn by the player who orchestrates the play, who makes things happen, and who is capable of carrying the team on his shoulders to achieve the initial goal, and then moving on to the next one, until reaching the top.
