Welcome once again to my blog today. I know you would have missed my reviews on Korean movies, as I'm mostly doing them for other movies these days. Well, I've missed it too; it's just that most of these Korean movies take time to finish watching. But today, I'm here with a blockbuster for you. This is a movie that I enjoy watching so much. I especially love how it revolves around a father-daughter relationship and the action it contains.
The movie is titled "Agent Kim Reactivated." The storyline follows a man called Kim who's working in a bank and living his life normally and ordinarily while also raising and taking care of his only daughter, Min-ji. Seeing agent Kim, you can definitely tell that there's something about him. He's just too gentle for my liking, but I was so sure that's not him; he's just trying to live a simple life, attend to his daughter, and stay out of trouble.
Along the line, it became more obvious that Kim actually has a past life; yeah, before he became an office worker, he was in the past a secret agent, a very skilled and top-rated one at that, who has done and gone on a lot of missions for the country.
It all blew up when his daughter got kidnapped, and even though he kept his calm and allowed the authorities to search for her, he couldn't hold it in any longer since nothing was coming in and it doesn't seem as if they're making any progress. He stood up and put on the past him he seems to have taken away before. We're talking about his daughter here.
Agent Kim who from the onset has been very gentle and quiet, wen when he was bullied still not calm had to become his older self for his daughter, agent Kim who had been knelt down to beg a powerful figure after he was told his child bullied the person, which was not actually true... That same Kim is now the one who can't remain quiet or calm anymore.
As he began to search for his daughter, he got reconnected to two of his old-time friends who he's done lots of missions together with too and who are also now living a quiet life. Hearing about the disappearance of his daughter, they agreed to join him and help look for her. And that was how the three of them became involved in something that later turned out to be very dangerous, as it eventually forced them to confront powerful people, government agencies, and even old enemies.
Don't ask me if I enjoyed this movie, because I did. I can't even lie about it. I enjoyed it so much I had to rewatch some of the episodes. You can't watch that movie and not be surprised at the gentility of Kim, he's just to quiet and gentle and that would also make you to be curious if he's really gentle or just trying to live a quite life since he can be very dangerous. Especially the way he looks and the kind of expression he carries about, it is gentle but also dangerous in a different kind of way. And he showed he can be very dangerous when his daughter disappeared.
I also enjoy the kind of relationship he shared with his friends Han-soo and Jin-cheol, they're very amazing friends, the type who would do anything, go any extent and put themselves in danger just so to protect themselves. I love the way they talk, how they relate, how they fought, and as well the comedy/fun they brought into the movie; you can't just help but laugh even though things are getting serious.
Not only that, but I as well enjoy the action scenes so much. Amazing fighting scenes; they showed they're actually professionals who had at one time been on the front line for the country. Kim as a character really got me, honestly I can't help but to clap for him at the end of the movie. He was just too good. No one could have played that character better. An ordinary-looking man, who's quiet and calm and suddenly switches into a very dangerous person.
A lot actually happened; at a time I even thought this would be the end, but then they would always make it out and continue their search. I even thought Min-ji had died; if that happened, believe me, the movie would have taken another turn, and everyone involved would have themselves to blame. Kim wasn't taking it easy anymore, and his daughter is someone he doesn't joke with.
But you see, when they finally reunited, OMG... It touched me in a different kind of way, his father Kim and his two friends Han-soo and Jin-cheol had gone through a lot just so to rescue her. At a point, the children of his two friends were also kidnapped just so they could stop helping Kim and maybe even kill him so he would desist from going that far in looking for his daughter, but then... They wouldn't have it.
The movie isn't long, it was a short and I love it that way, but I believe it could have been even more shorter if not for the various problems they begin to create in the quest for looking for Min-ji, it isn't that bad though just that some of it isn't that necessary. Also, it consists of a lot of action scenes, and that made it more interesting while making the new problems being created and the elongated scenes less obvious.
In conclusion, the characters did a good job. The movie is one I enjoyed watching too. I love the actions it contains, the comedy in it, and the father-to-daughter relationship.
