[Movie] Movie Review: Battle On Buka Street.

If you haven't given this movie a watch, I will advise that you do so ASAP. I mean, as soon as possible. It's been a while since I've watched it, and I was just scrolling through Facebook yesterday when I stumbled on a short trailer of it, and I can't help but get reminded of the movie once again. It is a movie from the amazing Funke Akindele herself. The woman is just too good. And in this movie as well, she delivered. She did excellently well.

The movie is titled "Battle on Buka Street." And from that title itself you can tell that it will be a battle indeed. The movie was pure chaos from the beginning to the end. I laughed out loud in the movie, like it is a very interesting one. This story is about two women who's re food vendors. Yeah, they both sell food (cooked food), and they also happen to sell on the same street; their shops are almost directly opposite each other. Another interesting thing here is that they are related, something we can call stepsisters. Yeah.

And like every other Nigerian shop owner close to each other, they also used to fight over customers. But it didn't end there; it feels like it is even way deeper than that. Of course they'd have issues with who's cooking the best food, who's making the most sales, who has the biggest number of customers, who's doing better, and all of that.

Both of them happen to be the main character in this movie. I mean Funke Akindele and Mercy Johnson. You will agree with me that both of them are very great and fantastic actors. You know both of them can be very funny, brutal, stubborn, and cool. Lovely and all at the same time.

I mean, depending on whatever role they're giving them to act, they will definitely switch into it and deliver. They didn't disappoint me in this, too. They are both stubborn the exact way they're meant to be. Always insulting each other, trying to outdo one another, being at loggerheads, and all of that. Well, all of those add to the fun.

Not as if I don't have issues with this movie, though; of course it is not a 100/100. Yeah, it is not. There are scenes that feel too exaggerated and unimportant to me. Not different. I was expecting it to be perfect too, but then they did really well. I love how that the movie showed how family disagreement can grow into something very serious especially when we give pride a chance.

From the title, I get it on it to just watch it for fun, and for fun, trust me, it delivered. But I'm also able to learn from it too. A lot of us do things and can even go to the extreme, forgetting that this other person we seem to be competing with is also family, thereby losing relationships, cutting bonds, and all of that.

Battle on Buka Street. Give it a watch; it is worth it.
