[Movie] Family, Hearts And Hope: "Lifemark" Review

I just finished seeing this movie that I've had in my watch list for as long as I can remember. It was recommended to me after I downloaded "War Room" and "The Forge". I kind of see the relation with this movie and I didn't even get to read the plot to know what I'll prepare my mind for, that made the experience more interesting.

I thought I only get butterflies when I see romance movies but believe me when I say this is a family drama, no romance and hardly comedy but I got the butterflies and lots of smiles mixed with tears. Even my mum and cousin who saw the movie with me couldn't hold back her thoughts as we continued to watch the story.

"Lifemark" is a biography family movie released in the year 2022 and it is 1 hr 45mins long. The movie tells a story that is inspired from a true story, beautifully, the actual people were shown at the end of the movie. Even just found out that one of them, the main guy of the true story, played a role in a scene of the movie story itself.

It's a movie written by the Kendrick Brothers, same people who did for the two movies that brought this movie to me. So it makes a lot of sense why the recommendations and the storyline feels so much like them, I could say I'm slowly understanding their signature in the stories they write. One of them starred in it too.

The story explores the life of 18 year old David (starred by Raphael Ruggero), who is living happily with his adopted parents and gets a message from Melissa (starred Dawn Long), his birth mother who have only held him once, asking to see him. He has a wonderful family Jimmy Colton (starred by Kirk Cameron) and Susan Colton (starred by Rebecca Rogers) who are surprisingly happy about the news for him to meet his birth mother and a supportive friend.

Knowing it's a story based on a true life story, made the movie more emotional for me. And I must say, some scenes came off more strong and beautiful than some. Like the first meeting with his birth mother was so beautiful that we couldn't stop talking about it by the end of the movie and where he meets his father felt so ordinary but we understood why. It's amazing how he went from having a small family to having a large one and he's the eldest and their only son.

I enjoyed the movie, like I did with the other Kendrick brothers movies and I'll recommend this one for a family time. It explores the beauty of having a loving family and choosing life even when things are difficult or uncertain. The life of Melissa choosing to not abort her child but choosing the parents to adopt her child, was commendable and it did pay off very well for her.
