[Movie] Her Touching Faith: "I'm Not Ashamed" Review

I'm still wondering why it took this long for me to finally decide to see this movie, it's way better than I had expected and I say that with mixed feelings as the storyline, even though it's based on a true story, wasn't very pleasant as it continues to the end. Still, it was a good watch.

"I Am Not Ashamed" is an inspiring True story movie released in the year 1999, it is based on the life of one "Rachel Joy Scott", a student at Columbine High School, a school located in Littleton, USA where a massacre happened that took the lives of Rachel and many other students.

The movie focuses mainly on the life of Rachel and her dreams before the massacre happened.

The story opens with Rachel (starred by Masey McLain), a little girl drawing on her wardrobe showing she's a lover of art and burning with a big dream but the dream wasn't revealed. She grows up to become a high school student at Columbine High School, aspiring to be act the school play. It failed but her story continues.

She has two friends Madison (starred by Victoria Staley) and Celine (starred by Emma Elle) who seem to be full of vibes and are always clubbing. Rachel begins to get distracted by them, going to clubs with them even though she never fits in and tries to get the attention of a guy in her school, Alex Dickerson (starred by Cameron McKendry).

She gets emotionally involved with him but he doesn't take her seriously as she wants him to. All those time, she makes friends with Nathan Ballard (starred by Ben Davies), a homeless young guy she introduced to a youth space called "Breakthru" and he became like a big brother to her trying to protect her from Alex's influence.

In her journey to touch lives, Rachel begins to come out as a Christain without hiding it or being ashamed of who she is in Christ. Even though she got so close to taking her lives when heartbroken, she found a new purpose and became friends with people the world see as ugly, worse or impossible. It later took her life.

Two guys who had always been bullied at the high school decides to take revenge, made a big plan and succeeded as they took the life of Rachel first in front of the Columbine High School, other students and took their own lives. It was a massacre but the life of Rachel was inspiring and retold because of how she led hers.

As at this movie release, stats says Rachel life has touched over 2 million souls and her dream was touching 2 million. It's just sad she didn't see it for herself that she did succeed in her dream but it's a big win that she refused to deny Christ even at death's point. Her friends mourned her so sadly, her legacy have lived on since her death.
