Hello Family.. and pet lovers. Hope you're all doing well? I love this topic so much because I'm a lover of pets and it immediately took me back to when I was growing up.
When I think about having a pet, one dog immediately comes to my mind. His name was "Terry".
Terry belonged to my grandmother when I was still small. I may not remember everything about those years, but I can still vividly remember his name and some of the moments I shared with him.
I remember always rubbing his back whenever I was around him. He was not just a dog that stayed in my grandmother's house. He was part of the family, and many people loved him.
One of the memories I remember most clearly was how he would wait for me at the gate whenever I went to school. Coming back from school and seeing him there was always something I looked forward to. It felt good knowing that someone was waiting for me.
Looking back now, I realise that those little moments were actually special. He was More Than Just a Dog
As a child, I did not think deeply about what it meant to have a pet. I simply enjoyed being around Terry.
I would rub his back and spend time around him. His presence made the house feel lively. He had become familiar to everyone, and people around him loved him.
That is one thing I think is beautiful about pets. They may not speak like humans, but they can still become a meaningful part of our everyday lives.
Sometimes, it is the simple things we remember most, for me it was him waiting at the gate.
Unfortunately, he did not live forever.
One day, he was knocked down by a coming car.
That was a very sad moment because he became someone everyone was used to seeing around. Losing him meant losing a familiar presence that had been part of our lives.
Even though I was young, I can still remember him. That shows me how much of an impression a pet can leave on someone's heart.
Years later, I still remember his name, Terry.
Would I Have a Pet Again? If I have the opportunity to get a pet in the future, I would most likely choose a dog.
My experience with Terry is probably one of the reasons I have always found dogs interesting. I like their loyalty, their playful nature and the way they can become attached to the people around them.
But I also understand that having a pet is a responsibility.
A dog needs good food, clean water, proper shelter, attention and medical care. It also needs grooming and regular cleaning. The owner has to be prepared to spend both time and money taking care of it.
I think the hardest part would be being responsible for another living being every day. You cannot just decide to ignore your pet because you are busy or tired. It still depends on you.
There is also the emotional side of having a pet. When you become attached to an animal, losing it can really hurt.
I experienced a little of that with Terry.
