Proudly Igbo: My Choice Of Ladies Of Hive Masquerade Meetup. Loh #310

If the Ladies of Hive community ever organized a lavish masquerade meetup, I already know what I would love to wear. As an Igbo girl, I would choose our traditional attire because I would love to represent my culture in my own little way.

I would wear a beautiful piece of George fabric wrapped around my chest, with another shorter wrapper tied around my waist. I would decorate myself with coral beads around my neck and wrists, and beads around my legs to complete the look. I can already imagine how beautiful the whole outfit would be. I would make sure to take plenty of pictures because a moment like that deserves to be remembered.

One thing I love about traditional Igbo attire is how different and beautiful it looks. The way the wrappers are tied, together with the beads, gives the outfit a special appearance. It is not the kind of dressing you see every day, and that is part of what makes it interesting to me.

For me, wearing our traditional attire is more than just dressing up for an occasion. It is one way of showing where we come from. Our culture has its own beauty, and I believe we should be proud of it. Even though we wear modern clothes in our everyday lives, there is still something special about dressing traditionally and seeing the beauty of our culture come alive.

I would also love to see what the other Ladies of Hive would wear. Imagine women from different places coming together, each dressed in something that represents her culture or a character she admires. I think it would be a lovely sight, and I would enjoy listening to the stories behind their choices.

As for me, I might be a little quiet when I first arrive because I am not always the person who starts a conversation in a room full of people. But with so many beautiful outfits to admire, I am sure I would find something to smile about.

And if anyone asked me why I chose my outfit, my answer would be simple: I am an Igbo girl, and I am proud of the beauty of my culture.
