It's a brand new week and we are up early enough to get to go farm, for today it is quite obvious that we will be continuing with our rice planting as the the sky has opened up to us with another downpour yesterday that will make the transplanting of our rice much easier. Due to the poor weather condition it is becoming increasingly difficult to grow rice most especially. You can ot transplant rice crops unless there the soil is well mositured, rice thrives well in areas covered with water and during transplanting like this it is better done in the swampg so that the available moisture can sustain the seedlings for a good while.

On the other hand, the sorghum we have transplanted some two weeks ago have now adjusted to it's new location. Sorghum and some other cereals like corn and millet aren't difficult to grow like rice.

They do not require too much soil moisture and can survive for longer time without water. During the farming seasons when we usually experience short periods of dryness, cereals like this one's survive better. But we cannot make the choice to grow only corn or sorghum as we all consume different varieties of food crops.

The soil here is very fertile and as soon as the crops are trying to adjust you can see grasses coming up alongside already. For this type of cereals we have selective herbicides that can be used to control weed in the farm here but before they can be applied, one has to ensure that the plant has grown up to certain height.

We would allow this to grow for the next 2-3weeks before deciding wether to weed or apply any herbicides. The day is bright and promising and I pray that we would be able to accomplish all that we have in our hearts to do today.
