Trying out some new fashion tricks I recently learnt.

Hello Hive.

How is the days work going? I hope that we are making a lot of progress. The time is ticking and it's past midday already. I'm just about to take some break and a meal. We got back quite earlier from farm today and wanted to get as much rest before my evening classes. And while the sun is still up and I'm a bit less busy I decided to keep working on some sewing activities.

I have been asked to quit the present accomodations I am staying in and as a result of that I need to clean up my closet and all the stack of wear I have at hand to make. Once these wears are all ready and delivered to their owners I would have some lesser load to relocate with.

Starting with this one, I have been stuck on how to sew this dress or the design I wanted it to end up with but since I had cut it into a surplice pattern I just have to continue working with it in that line.

1000391582.jpg

Before now I didn't know how to stitch a neat neckline for dress. Cutting necklines were usually a pain in the neck because if anything goes wrong there are no other ways to adjust the clothes compared to if the mistakes were in other parts of the outfits

I wanted to use a bias strip for the necklines because it is easier to use bias but purchasing that including zipper and other stuff will cost me about a dollar. I wanted to avoid spending anything on this wear as much as possible since it is not a very expensive fabric.

While I kept thinking about it, I know I had to apply some new fashion tricks to achieve this

1000391547.jpg

I saw a picture of a monk online and how they had used this type of band go finish the necklines, it look neat, I borrowed that idea from there. Measuring out the entire length of the neckline I cut a band with that measurements

1000391542.jpg

Next I attached the band to the neckline and struggled with it so that it won't get twisted.

I had some excesses right in the middle of the neck there. You can see where I pinched it on the chest line.

Next I cut out the sleeves. Sewed it's hemming neatly and attached it to the dress

Instead of purchasing a zipper I got some elastic thread. Opened up all the seam allowance of the waist and sewed it in a non fitted way. When you wear the dress, it won't be fitted on the waist line but the addition of elastic pulls the clothes back into fitness.

The elastic often expands alongside the clothe to assist one with wearing the dress while it pulls the cloth together to form some fitness after wearing it. The body form is a bit larger than my size on the waistline and not giving this outfit the best appearance.

Each and everyday I look back I'm glad that I didn't quit along the way and has continued to learn new things everyday .
