Hello Hive
It is yet another beautiful day in the land of the living and we have been having a ceaseless heavy downpour all night. The rains have indeed been a blessing this year and no doubt every farmer would be smiling right now. Virtually everything planted is going to flourish, there is no excuse for having inadequate yields if we put in the hard work.
Right now I don't feel fo great that we didn't plant as many crops as possible. Even the ones we have grown have been in very very little quantity. Due to daddy health I couldn't alone grow as much of the fields as we used go do before. Our rice fields can often go for as large as 3-4 plots in different locations buy this year we barely managed to cover two
Even at that the work is rather overwhelming. Rice is one of the most tedious crops to grow compared to other crops that I know. The reason for this is that most of the work of growing rice has to be done in the swamp. The swamp is usually cold and filled with some sickness causing worms that must not get into our bodies.
Yesterday we bagan yet another of those tedious work in rice farm, weeding the grasses off the farms.
We applied herbicides to assist us with this task but the grasses didn't give way to some reasons.
First the concentration of the chemicals used wasn't viable, it only weakened the grasses for a while before the came alive again.
Having grown rice for so many years, we knew the right chemicals to used for this weeding but have decided to use a smaller concentration due to a major reason. We were trying to protect the rice plants. The chemical wasn't applied at the right time it was meant to be.

We were short on finances at the time and couldn't purchase herbicides. When we got the herbicides to use it was rather too late to apply it to the farm, while we didn't want it to affect the rice plant we decided to use a lower concentration of the herbicides to see if it would work.
The results is what we see poorly here, the grasses didn't die, they became weakend for a while and then came alive again. Leaving the grasses in the rice farm lie this will cause more damages in the coming day.
The only option is to engage in manual wedding pulling up the grasses with our hands in the swamp. A very very tedious exercise I must say. You can't weed grasses here with hoes or cutlass, rice isn't grown in such a way that those tools can be useful for weeding grasses among the plant, this makes the work even more tedious. We can't leave the farm like this and hence we have to put in the work.
Its still drizzling this morning and we are waiting for the rains to stop so that we can head out. You can't work in the swamp whole the rains are still failing, one would catch a cold. While working, always watch out for your health as well, that is very important I must say.
