হঠাৎ অসাবধানতাবশত টেস্টটিউব থেকে জাদুকরী কেমিক্যাল গড়িয়ে পড়তে শুরু করে ওই ছোট কঙ্কালটার ওপর। কেমিক্যাল লাগার সাথে সাথেই টেস্টটিউব থেকে ঘন নীল ধোঁয়া বের হতে থাকে এবং দেখতে দেখতে ওই ছোট কঙ্কালটা রক্ত-মাংসের শরীরে পরিণত হয়ে জ্যান্ত হয়ে ওঠে শত বছর আগের শয়তান বুড়ি ডাইনি 'হুলডা স্টেপকে'। ল্যাবের দেওয়ালে ঝুলানো ছিল অটো লিওনহার্ডের ছবি, যাকে ওই ডাইনিটা কোনোভাবেই সহ্য করতে পারত না। জ্যান্ত হয়েই বুড়ি ডাইনি পুরো স্কুলে নিজের ক্ষমতার দাপট দেখানোর ফন্দি আঁটে।
স্কুল ভেঙে যাওয়া বা ফাটার বিষয় এবং ফিলিক্সের পড়াশোনা নিয়ে কথা বলতে ফিলিক্সের মা-বাবা আর উপস্থিত হন। তারা যখন ওই বুড়ি ডাইনির সামনে এসে দাঁড়ান, তখন ডাইনিটা তার কালাজাদুময় গোলকের ক্ষমতা প্রয়োগ করে বসে। এক পলকে অলৌকিক জাদুর ঝলকানিতে সে ফিলিক্সের মা, বাবা এবং সাথে থাকা ম্যামকে একদম আঙুলের সমান ছোট বানিয়ে দেয়!
মা-বাবাকে এত ছোট বানিয়ে ফেলার পর ক্ষান্ত না হয়ে ডাইনি তাদের একটি শক্ত ঝুলানো পাখির খাঁচায় পুরে ঘরের ওপরের দিকে আটকে রাখে। হঠাৎ স্বাভাবিক মানুষ থেকে পুতুলের মতো ছোট হয়ে ঝুলানো খাঁচায় বন্দি থাকা মা-বাবার অবস্থা তখন দেখার মতো।
ঝুলানো খাঁচা থেকে বাইরে পড়া ও পিৎজা বক্সে সফর খাঁচায় আটকে পড়লেও মা-বাবা কিন্তু মাথা ঠাণ্ডা রেখেছিলেন। তারা দুজনে মিলে খাঁচার ভেতরে দাঁড়িয়ে শরীরের সমস্ত ভর দিয়ে এক সাথে দোল খাওয়া শুরু করেন। দুলতে দুলতে খাঁচার দোলনের বেগ এত বেড়ে যায় যে ঝুলানো খাঁচাটি সোজা গিয়ে পড়ে ঘরের জানালা দিয়ে বাইরে!

কমোডের অতল পানিতে বাবাকে ভেসে থাকতে দেখে আর বাঁচাও বাঁচাও চিৎকার শুনে ফিলিক্স তড়িঘড়ি করে হাত বাড়িয়ে কমোডের পানির ভেতর থেকে বাবার পা চেপে ধরে উল্টো করে লটকে টেনে তুলে নিয়ে আসে। এই দৃশ্যটা এতটাই ফানি ছিল যে দেখে হাসতে হাসতে পেটে খিল ধরে যায়!
কমোডের ময়লা পানি থেকে তোলার পর বাবাকে তো পরিষ্কার করতে হবে। ফিলিক্স বাথরুমের সিঙ্কে দুটো হলুদ প্লাস্টিকের মগের ভেতর সাবানের ফেনা বানিয়ে মা-বাবাকে ভেতরে নামিয়ে দেয়। এরপর লাল রঙের দুটো টুথব্রাশ দিয়ে ঘষে ঘষে তাদের সুন্দর করে গোসল করায়।
গোসল শেষ করার পর তাদের ভিজা শরীর আর জামাকাপড় শুকানোর জন্য ফিলিক্স নিয়ে আসে একটি হট এয়ার গান (হেয়ার ড্রায়ার)। ফিলিক্স যখন হট এয়ার গান চালিয়ে মা-বাবার দিকে বাতাস দেওয়া শুরু করে, গরম বাতাসের প্রচণ্ড ধাক্কায় ফিলিক্সের মা নিজের ব্যালেন্স ধরে রাখতে পারেন না।

ডাইনি পরাস্ত ও মা-বাবাকে বড় করা সবশেষে ফিলিক্স আর তার বন্ধুরা বুদ্ধি খাটিয়ে সেই জাদুকরী গোল বলগুলো সংগ্রহ করে ফেলে। জাদুকরী বলের সঠিক ক্ষমতা ব্যবহার করে ডাইনি হুলডাকে চিরতরে হারিয়ে দেওয়া হয়। জাদুকরী বলের শক্তিতে ফিলিক্স তার মা-বাবাকে আবার আগের মতো স্বাভাবিক মানুষের আকৃতিতে ফিরিয়ে আনে। সব ঝামেলা শেষ হওয়ার পর মা-বাবাও ফিলিক্সের অনুভূতি বুঝতে পারেন এবং পুরো পরিবার নিয়ে সুখে শান্তিতে থাকার সিদ্ধান্ত নেন।
