Those Little Eyes Watching Me. / Monomad Challenge [Eng/Esp]

All birds have their own ways of protecting themselves from predators; some use camouflage, and others use shadows. It’s the latter that challenge me all the time, because they require me to try a little harder.

Todas las aves tienen sus propios métodos para protegerse de los depredadores; algunas usan el mimetismo y otras las sombras. Son estas últimas las que me retan todo el tiempo, porque exigen de mí esforzarme un poco más. 

In the small patches of forest where only a few rays of sunlight penetrate, tiny eyes watch me in the dim light.

En los pequeños parches de bosque donde inciden apenas pocos rayos de sol, unos pequeños ojos me observan a media luz.

But not for long—the scene lasts only a few seconds; as soon as they sense my presence, they retreat back into the thick of the forest.

Y no por mucho tiempo, apenas la escena dura pocos segundos; apenas ven que estoy presente, vuelven a lo denso del bosque.

Not all of them use shadows; others rely on camouflage, which makes them even harder to spot.

No todas usan las sombras; otras usan el mimetismo, lo que hace aún más difícil verlas.

That’s why every day I spend in the forest is quite an experience—between finding them and taking their photos, the hours just fly by. That’s why I wanted to bring you these images to share with the community. 

Por eso cada día que estoy en el bosque es toda una experiencia, entre encontrarlas y hacerles foto se me van las horas. De ahí que haya querido traerles estas imágenes para compartir con la comunidad.
