Hello friends of Holos & Lotus, how are you? I hope you are all doing very well. A few days ago, I read @sacra97's post about the importance and weight of the name given to us at birth. My name was initially going to be Natasha, but by some coincidence, my mom decided to choose the name Nathalia with an inserted H. It is a very pretty name that I feel carries a lot of weight in my personality as well.
Here in my country, Venezuela, there are many variations of the name Natalia, whether written with an H like mine or in different ways such as Natalie or Nataly, among others. I never came across this name at school when I was a child, nor in my surroundings. So I was always Nathalia, Natalie, or Natalia because people usually spell or understand it in different ways. And I like the name they gave me; I feel it's pretty and different from my siblings' and my parents' names.
For some reason, I always associated my name with people from the artistic world, like Natalia Jiménez or Natalia Lafourcade. This name gives me a sense of peace, but at the same time, I find it very strange that there aren't many people with this name or that I didn't bump into someone with the same name at some point, even if it were without the H. I feel my mom always knew what she wanted to call her first daughter, and the name is beautiful; I like that it's not so common.
As I grew up, some people called me by the diminutives Nathy or Thalia; it was a different and friendly way to call me, but I always considered the name Nathalia to be one of the things I like most about myself. I feel it gives weight to my personality. I am quite calm, very observant, I like being able to listen to others, and I also love art, whether musically, in movies, or in paintings and drawings. Unfortunately, I never learned how to paint 🫠😅, but I do like philanthropy and being in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
As for the inserted H, I never knew why they spelled my name that way; it might be because of my last name starting with H or simply because my mom liked it better that way. The truth is that I always wanted to find other people with my name, but it was very difficult. I think at the university where I study, there is another girl with the same name, but other than that, it's as if it weren't a preference for many people. I love it; I am always grateful for the name I have, because what a misfortune it would be to have a name you don't like. 😅
My name represents who I am, the person I try to be every day: more altruistic, kinder, more open to learning new things. But I also tend to be a bit quiet, I get lost in my thoughts, and I like being able to keep my distance from unnecessary drama. I suppose a name is something that adds weight to our personality, and I believe my name blends with who I am. I think it's cool that it's not such a common name, but surely every name has a story and a deeper meaning than the one I was able to give mine in this post. 👋🏽
