During play, children can use a variety of materials. For me, safety during play comes first. So, a little boy was very sad and upset that his mother brought and handed me a tablet demonstratively, yet strictly forbade her son from using it. Well, whatever; I thought, now I am that "wicked aunt" who won't let the child play games. At first, the boy cried, pleaded, and demanded the toy from me, inventing various methods ranging from loud screaming to almost legal-sounding arguments. Then that storm passed, and he quietly began to craft something at the small table. I decided to let him calm down completely, then came up with a plan: first we would play and make some craft together, and only afterward would there be the tablet. After a while, the boy invited me to dinner, even though it was still daytime. My head was hurting terribly, but no one was to blame except the fact that I hadn't taken my medicine. Still, it was very lovely. We ate from toy tableware, drinking water from toy cups. Then the boy gathered the dishes and washed them under running water. My ideal dinner. It was so sincere and natural that I couldn't help but smile, even though I felt a heavy stone pressing against my forehead. Then we chose a creative task. "What would be an interesting task for you? Drawing? Making a color paper collage? Or working with clay?" "I want to sew!" said the boy decisively, looking at me through his glasses. "Alright, and what shall we sew? A gift for mom?" I gathered scraps of red felt, a yellow needle, and some bright red beads I had recently bought. "How strange that a child wants to sew of all things," I thought while gathering the supplies, once again worrying whether he might accidentally prick his little fingers. I cut out a few red and pink hearts for him, and he joined them together as he saw fit, sewing on the red beads. Three bright brooches turned out. "This is my creative work, this one is for mom, this one is for her boyfriend, and this is for me. And do you know that my dad is at war?" "Well, let's sew something for him too." "I'll write him a letter." The boy drew a wonderful picture and signed it, wishing his dad health, glory, and victory. How many children nowadays experience precisely these moments of pure love for their parents who are far away. I took a photo of this shadow because it is a world of fairy tales that I love so much. In my fairy tale, children are happy; there is no cruelty, malice, or deceit. My fairy tale is always with me, guarded deep inside. Yet working with children is sincere; they can echo their parents' words, but children either love or hate, they speak their minds or what hurts them the most. At that moment, we existed in the same world, having dinner with toy dishes, searching for funny shadows, sewing original little hearts, and drawing letters for those far away. When he finally got the tablet, the room suddenly felt empty. He was already in another digital world. Then we waited for his mother, and afterward, I went home. I know that I did everything to be a good employee of a large company that simply cannot tolerate my firm personal boundaries and my love for what I do. Thank you for your attention. This is my entry for the shadow hunters contest.
