Normally, Monday first day of the week is not what everyone looks forward to. But this coming week, yes, we all Indians are looking forward to Monday. It is the day of our Beloved Ganeshji coming home and starting the 10 days festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. Every year I look forward to this festival and it is celebrated at my home with great joy and love. My home is filled up with people on these days. There are rituals and prayers happening all through out that I have Bappa at home. We call our Ganesha as Bappa with love.
It's a 10 days festival, but one can bring Bappa home for the days as per their convinience. It is normally 1.5, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10 and 11 days. Every year I do it for 1.5 days but this year I am going to do it for 5 days. It feels like a calling and hence I made this decision. This year a very sad incident happened. I normally bring my Ganesha idol from India, an eco-friendly one which at the end I immerse in the bucket water at my home and do the final visarjan rituals. The eco-friendly one dissolves in 15 minutes and then I pour the water in plants. I had brought the Ganesha idol in my last visit to India itself, but had not opened it. I opened it a week before and found it was broken.
We believe that if Ganesha idol breaks it is a good sign, he is taking away some big obstacle that is coming for you. I felt sad because it broke and it is also difficult to find an eco-friendly idol here. But again we believe that it is all Bappa's wish. When I found it broke, I panicked at first and started calling some people who I thought could help me find some solution. With Bappa's grace, I found one contact who is providing natural clay to make the idol. He was not making it, but he was supplying all materials, like the clay and the mould. Then I got a contact who helped me make the idol. Like that everything fell in order and there was solution found.
The lady made a very beautiful idol from the materials, even better then what I had brought from India, the only thing is that it is little small, but then it's ok. I am happy and I believe it's all Bappa's wish, he wanted it to happen in this way.
Since past few days I have been preparing for the festival. The whole house has to be cleaned up and arrangements have to be made. I am done with almost 80% work, now there are last minute things to do which I need to complete by today end of the day.
Have done some decorations for the Bappa's arrival. Majority of my things are recycled every year.
Got his seat also ready.
