I am a firm believer of having and keeping good relationships be it with your family or your friends. Every relationship matters no matter how small or not beneficial you may think it to be. God gave us to individual families because he knew that we needed these people and they were going to be a huge part of our growth and development on earth and honestly, he couldn’t have done it any better.
Same applies to friendships. We all need friends but not all friendships are beneficial.There are some friendships that don’t add much to your life aside bring you down and drag you into unnecessary drama. Then there’s those friendships that really serve you well when it comes to personal growth and all. I tend to keep a very small circle because I’m a bit of an introvert. But in my small circle of friends, there’s individuals with big hearts to accommodate and each and every one of us.
Friendship is a good thing, don’t get me wrong and we all need friends. Growing up, I had so many friends and I will like to tie that to the fact that I grew up in a community that lived like one big family. I could go and sleep in my friends house and Vice versa. We literally grew up lilies siblings but along the line, life found its way of separating us. But thanks to technology, we weren’t separated for long. Today, I know where most of my friends are, thanks to social media. We keep in touch through social media platforms, we hop on video calls, play games and chat. It’s all love and growth wherever we are.
Speaking of social media. I have also had the opportunity to make and meet so many new friends on social media who I still keep in touch with most of the time. Not to look far, I have made friends on hive who have supported me through a lot of things and honestly, these people mean a lot to me. I believe that friendship isn’t really about distance because any distance can be closed with time. What matters most in friendship is the fact that the other person has got your back through think or thin.
Just like every relationship, friendship has its ups and downs. One of the pitfalls I have experienced when it comes to online and long distance friendships will have to do with the lack of constant communication. But I understand that we are all trying to get a hang of life and it’s okay for us to not talk for a while. I haven’t spoken to some of my friends in weeks or even months. But trust me, the next time we talk, it’s going to be a blast and this is because we fill each other up with all the things that have gone down so that everyone stays in the loop.
Friendship doesn’t need to be hard and it really isn’t hard. Some people might tell you that your friendship with someone might not end well but today I am here to tell you that the future of every friendship of yours lies in your hands and not everything ends badly.
