Hello, everyone.
I welcome you to my blog. In this part of the world at least 80% of adults had different dreams and passions as kids, many things they wanted to be, and many dreams they thought they could achieve only to grow up and realise that the type of country they found themselves is the type that limits your dreams; it decides for you and can only support a few dreams. The type of country we found ourselves is the type that should be regarded as a dream killer. So many childhood dreams have been killed by this country. So many things we thought we could do as kids, we became adults, and we understood better why those before us could not do it.
Trust me, as children we saw the country and the world differently from how we now see it as adults, and it hurts to see that we actually dreamt that much, and the adults in our lives did not inform us or try to warn us; rather, they let us dream on and think we could achieve all that we dreamt of. Every adult you see on this side of the world had to give up on one dream or the other, either because the country found a way to kill that dream or the family found a way to frustrate the dream until they were forced to give up on the dream.
Today I am a graduate of agricultural and bioresources engineering, but the truth is that as a boy growing up, I really loved the game of football. I had a dream of pursuing that career. Growing up I never missed training; I trained as an individual, and I trained with my teammates. I gave it my best shot and made sure that if an opportunity were to present itself, I would be ready to embrace it, but sadly, despite all preparations, not a single opportunity crossed my path or that of my close friends, who wanted to pursue that dream together. It was my childhood dream, and if I get the chance to still hop on to make that dream a reality, I will not hesitate.
So if I have the free will to choose a career or profession, it will definitely be footballing. Sometimes it hurts to remember how much we had dreamt and how we had things planned out of things that had worked out, but here we are with different dreams but pursuing a different career because of the type of country we found ourselves in. This country does not give you the support you need to pursue your dreams, and for that reason, more dreams die than become a reality.
