I went to the movies to see Coyote vs. Acme, and I was struck by what a mother sitting with her two daughters in line to buy tickets told me. She said she’d seen the movie and loved it because she used to watch it when she was little 🤩🤩, but her two daughters were confused since they didn’t know the characters 😐😐.... I think we need more movies like this because memories are fleeting, and time tends to fade them from the view of new generations 🤔🤔
Coyote VS Acme is a recently released movie that I highly recommend seeing in theaters, since it’s still playing as of the date I’m posting this review. Usually, parents accompany their kids to see what the little ones in the family like—parents often don’t even know which characters their kids are watching, haha 😅😅, well, in this case, the exact opposite might happen to them, haha, and I think that’s a delightful feeling and an experience worth highlighting with this movie. I also think you’ll have a blast with this classic style of comedy 😁😁
One thing worth noting is that it really reminded me of the Who Framed Roger Rabbit style—any fans of retro movies know exactly which film I’m referring to 😉😉
I’m sharing the trailer with you so you can get a better sense of what this story is all about—where, basically, Wile E. Coyote is the main character and will finally go all out against Acme
It’s precisely that premise of the movie that will resonate with kids from decades ago who watched these cartoons, because we’ll ask ourselves, “Why does he keep using those products if they’re defective?” 🤔🤔—which was the conceptual joke of the show, haha 😂😂
That’s the foundation of it all—using a character who’s a challenge because the Coyote, in essence, is stuck in the past; his narrative rhythm belongs to another era. I could sense that in the timid laughter from the theater, but it’s complemented and brought up to date by the film’s human element and a villain who impressed me and had me laughing my head off with his tone full of irony and panache 🤩🤩
First things first, I think the Coyote managed to surround himself with two human characters who really brought emotion to the movie. Will Forte, as Kevin Abery, represents negative conformity—a character who changes after witnessing the Coyote’s perseverance and determination never to give up. This message is admirable and serves as a great source of motivation for the audience to achieve their goals despite setbacks; it strongly reminded me of my own constant struggle as a content creator 🥲🥲
In my case, I really loved the support, the backbone, and the complement provided by Lana Condor as Paige Avery—what a compelling female character to get to know! Her character arc and development struck me as incredibly compelling. Keep an eye out for this actress, who brings tremendous warmth to family-oriented stories 😊😊
Now we’re getting to what I really like—the villains, haha. In this regard, I think this is where the movie is funniest 😃😃. The chemistry between Tweety and John Cena as Buddy Crane is addictive to watch, and the movie has enormous potential to expand this story. It seems like it all ends here, but Cena handles the animated characters really well. his time on PeaceMaker has really set him free as an actor, so to speak, haha. The guy acts with incredible fluidity, especially with Piolin, and Piolin complements him perfectly 😂😂—it’s one of the best parts of the movie, and it’s a shame we don’t get to see more of them together 😜😜
This also ties in with Foghorn Leghorn; here, Cena is outshone by the rooster’s sheer swagger as he becomes the face of Acme. His classic line, “...son,” used constantly when he shares his views on corporate behavior, is hilarious 🤣🤣
A film with so many wonderful elements—it’s not just nostalgia; it’s also a successful reboot that has a loyal audience eager to answer the call to keep these classic characters—from yesterday and even today—alive 🥹🥹👍🏻
