• Today I want to share with you one of the activities I usually do in nature. Actually, I do so many things—hiking, exploring, picnicking, running, and therapeutic walks in nature—but since this is a contest, I wanted to be more creative in sharing some of the other activities I usually do, which are astronomy-related activities in a park or the countryside. Because nature also offers celestial events that we can observe and enjoy without needing any fancy equipment—all you need is the internet and your own eyes.

• El día de hoy quiero compartirles una de las actividades que suelo hacer en la naturaleza; en realidad, tengo demasiadas actividades: hacer caminatas, explorar, picnic, corridas, caminatas terapéuticas en la naturaleza; sin embargo, como se trata de un concurso, quise ser más creativa en compartir otras de las actividades que suelo hacer, y es actividades astronómicas en un parque o campo. • If you're wondering how to know when something will happen—since, unfortunately, we can't predict when a solar or lunar eclipse, a blue moon, a blood moon, a meteor shower, etc., will occur— Depending on the event, the location may vary. For example, for anything involving stars, it’s recommended to go to a place with no light pollution; remote areas in the countryside are usually ideal because, being far from the city, you’ll be able to see the sky clearly without needing a telescope. • Si te preguntas cómo haces para saber cuándo algo sucederá, si lastimosamente no podemos predecir cuándo sucederá algún eclipse solar o lunar, luna azul o de sangre, lluvia de estrellas, etc. Dependiendo del evento que tengas, la localización podrá variar; por ejemplo, en todo lo que involucre estrellas, se recomienda ir a un lugar donde no exista contaminación lumínica. Las zonas lejanas en el campo suelen ser ideales porque, al estar alejadas de la ciudad, podrás apreciar el cielo sin necesidad de algún telescopio. Pero lo principal que necesitas hacer es visitar una página que informa los eventos astronómicos que sucederán en tu zona ejemplo

• Find a safe spot and the tools you’ll need. I was lucky enough to witness a nearly total solar eclipse in Portugal on August 12—there was almost no part where the moon completely covered the sun. It was an incredible feeling to go to a high point in nature and witness these events; they’re undoubtedly memories you can share with your children, since they happen only once every few years, plus you can see how the weather changed—the day grew dark, yet the sun remained in its normal position.

• For this event, you absolutely need certified, safe eclipse glasses that allow you to view the eclipse. Using these glasses, you’ll be able to see how the sun begins to be covered by a black disk—the moon—and you can only observe it once the moon starts to block the sun. This event lasted about an hour, almost two, and I was able to safely photograph the stages of the eclipse as it unfolded.

• Buscar una zona segura y las herramientas que necesitaras, tuve la suerte de que el 12 de agosto en Portugal presenciamos un eclipse solar casi en su totalidad, solo quedo casi nada en el que la luna ocultara por completo el sol, fue una sensacion increible ir a un punto alto en la naturaleza y apreciar estos eventos, sin duda son recuerdos que podras compartir con tus hijos ya que son cosas que suceden muy pocos anos, ademas de poder apreciar como el clima cambio, se oscurecio el día y aun asi el sol continuaba en su posicion normal.

• Para este evento obligatoriamente necesitas unos lentes certificados seguros que te permitan apreciar el eclipse. Utilizando esta herramienta, podrás ver cómo el sol comienza a ser tapado por una bola negra que es la luna y solamente podemos apreciarlo cuando comience a ocultar el sol. Esta actividad duró alrededor de una hora, casi dos; logré fotografiar de manera segura las etapas del eclipse que podemos apreciar cómo suceden.

• The benefits of this hobby aren’t just about being able to appreciate an astronomical event; they also lie in the valuable lessons it teaches us—such as how the world is created in such a unique and intriguing way that it makes you wonder: What must earlier generations have thought when they witnessed these events? Because, thanks to the evolution of our knowledge, we know that this event isn’t dangerous at all—it’s simply something that happens when the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth are aligned. But without that knowledge, it could be very frightening—and dangerous—because if you look at the Sun while this phenomenon is occurring, you could suffer eye damage or even risk blindness.

• Los beneficios de este hobby no son solo el poder apreciar un evento astronómico, también el gran aprendizaje que nos deja, como el mundo está creado de una manera tan única y curiosa que te hace pensar: ¿qué pensarán las generaciones antiguas cuando presenciaban estos eventos? Porque gracias a la evolución de nuestro conocimiento sabemos que este evento no es nada peligroso; es simplemente algo que ocurre cuando el Sol, la Luna y la Tierra están alineados. Pero sin saber, ese conocimiento podrá ser algo muy aterrador, además de peligroso, porque si miramos el sol con ese fenómeno ocurriendo, puedes sufrir lesiones en tus ojos, incluso correr el riesgo de ceguera.

• Another benefit of this hobby is that it helps you practice your ability to concentrate, because these activities require a lot of patience and focus, whether you’re observing visually or using a tool. Sitting on the grass and watching the sky or a natural phenomenon is also relaxing. Furthermore, it encourages people to engage with the world of science and raises awareness about light pollution. So when I go on vacation, I try to go to secluded areas and sit on the grass to watch the sky, whether during the day or at night, because even though there are many incredible things happening on the ground, there are also many things happening above our heads that, unfortunately, we miss.

• Otro de los beneficios de este hobby es que puedes practicar tu capacidad de concentración, porque estas actividades requieren mucha paciencia y concentración, ya sea observar visualmente o con una herramienta. También produce relajación sentarse en el césped y observar el cielo o el fenómeno natural. Además, promueve la participación de las personas en el mundo de la ciencia y promueve la conciencia con la contaminación lumínica.
