🌟 The most beautiful Animal Macroglossum stellatarum. 🌟 (ENG-ESP)

• Here we are embarking on a new activity where we’ll serve as judges for beauty pageants and use our own eyes to find an animal that we find beautiful, cute, and worthy of a Miss Universe crown. But before taking that step, we have to identify and define what we mean by beauty in an animal, so I’ve created these three key points: fur, colors, and most importantly, having a feature that makes it stand out from the crowd—being unique. Observe it and think: “WOW, I’VE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE!”

• Aquí nos encontramos en una nueva actividad donde requerimos ser jueces de certámenes de belleza y encontrar a través de nuestros ojos un animal que nos parezca hermoso, lindo, merecedor de una corona del Miss Universo. Pero antes de dar ese paso, tenemos que encontrar y clasificar qué es lo que podemos definir en belleza en un animal, así que cree estos tres puntos importantes: pelaje, colores y el más importante, tener un punto que lo destaque entre muchos, ser único, observarlo y pensar: "¡WUO, CÓMO NUNCA VI ESTO ANTES!".

• *After extensive exploration and with many ideas about what kind of animal we were going to enter in the contest, this little insect appeared—one that had never been part of our plans, but crossed our path as if nature were saying to us: “HEY, INSECTS ARE BEAUTIFUL TOO!”

• So, with its vibrant colors and patterns, this beautiful moth appeared. When we first saw it, we thought it was a hummingbird, but after looking into it further, we realized it wasn’t a bird but a moth—since we know there are no hummingbirds here in Portugal, BUT we do have the hummingbird hawk-moth, which looks like a hummingbird but is actually a moth. Since it appeared in the afternoon, we instantly thought it was a butterfly, but upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a moth, so finding it was a blessing because we were able to do this photo shoot.

• *Luego de un exhaustivo trabajo de exploración y con muchas ideas de qué tipo de animal íbamos a traer al concurso, apareció este pequeño insecto que nunca estuvo en nuestros planes, pero se apareció en nuestro camino como si la naturaleza nos dijera: "¡OYE, LOS INSECTOS TAMBIÉN SOMOS HERMOSOS!

• Asi que modelando con sus colores y pelajes aparecio esta hermosa polilla que al verla la primera vez pensabamos que era un colibri pero después volvimos a investigar y no era un ave sino una mariposa ya que sabemos que aquí en Portugal no existe el colibri PERO tenemos la mariposa-esfinge-colibri que por su aspecto si parece un colibri pero en realidad es una polilla, por la hora que aparecio que fue en la tarde pensamos al instante que fue una mariposa pero investigando bien se trata de una polilla asi que encontrarla fue una bendicion porque logramos realizar esta sesion de fotos.

• Macroglossum stellatarum Although commonly known as the hummingbird hawk-moth, despite being a moth, it is typically diurnal, which means it can sometimes be seen foraging in broad daylight. Its size usually ranges from 2.1 to 2.4 cm; it isn’t very small, but it isn’t very large either. As we can see in the photo, it has piercing eyes; they give it good vision both during the day and at night. Its wings are colorful, with shades of brown, white, and black, plus a small pink detail; to our eyes, its colors are simply beautiful. One of the things that gives it its name is its diet, as it feeds on flower nectar; nonstop, like hummingbirds, our friend is seen flitting from flower to flower.

• Macroglossum stellatarum Pero también conocida ordinariamente como la esfinge colibrí, a pesar de ser una polilla, suele tener hábitos diurnos que permiten a veces observarla buscar alimentos en la luz del día. Su tamaño suele variar de 2,1 a 2,4 cm; no es muy pequeña, pero tampoco es muy grande. Como podemos observar en la foto, tiene unos ojos que penetran el alma; le permiten tener una buena vista en la luz del día y en la noche. Sus alas son coloridas con unas tonalidades pardo, blanco y negro, además del pequeño detalle rosa; desde nuestros ojos tiene unos colores demasiado lindos. Una de las cosas que le da su nombre es su dieta, y es que su alimento es el néctar de las flores; sin parar, como los colibríes, nuestra amiga se encuentra dando paseo de flor en flor.

• Another interesting fact is that this is a migratory species; it does not usually stay in Europe all year round. When temperatures drop, they typically migrate to Africa to survive, as they generally cannot survive in very cold conditions. In terms of reproduction, the female can lay up to 200 eggs on a plant of the genus Galium, where the larvae will undergo the various stages of metamorphosis. It usually takes 6–8 days for the larva to develop, and depending on how warm its environment is, its colors can vary; that’s why it’s common to see different colors such as pink, orange, red, etc. In the book, we can see the various colors they typically take on.

• Otro dato muy curioso es que se trata de una especie migratoria; no suele quedarse en Europa todo el tiempo; cuando bajan las temperaturas, suelen viajar a África para lograr sobrevivir, ya que no suelen sobrevivir cuando hay mucho frío. En términos de su reproducción, la hembra puede llegar a colocar hasta 200 huevos en una planta del género Galium, donde pasarán las varias etapas de metamorfosis. Normalmente, suele demorar 6-8 días en la larva formarse y, dependiendo de qué tan caliente es su entorno, puede variar sus colores; por eso es normal que logremos observar de distintos colores como rosa, naranja, rojo, etc. En el libro podemos observar varios colores que suelen tomar.

• Ahora aquí voy a comentarles los que más nos llamó la atención; haremos un pequeño juego y es que cuando encontramos a este amigo, nos recordó a un pokémon a la hora, así que si un animal es parecido a un pokémon, eso ya le suma muchos puntos. @biologistbrito dice que parece más al Pokémon Detox y yo digo que parece más Beautifly.
