The Caigüire neighborhood is a very busy area of the city, primarily because of its proximity to the beach, which is the main source of income for fishermen, their families, and other residents of the area. A significant portion of the neighborhood, located along Avenida Perimetral, is known as the Caigüire–Peñon Corridor, and hundreds of vehicles travel through this area daily in different directions.
This area is important because, in recent decades, the city of Cumana has expanded into the Villa Cristobal Colon and El Peñon neighborhoods—residential areas where housing has proliferated, extending almost to the area known as The Peaje, where Troncal Highway 9 begins, leading to Marigüitar, Cariaco, and Carupano.
From where I stand, I can see Sugar Loaf Hill, as imposing as ever. The hills rise up to offer enchanting views from this side. In the distance, you can make out a few houses nestled in the mountains—people who prefer to live on the slopes of this hill rather than move far from the city.
As I walked, the breeze accompanied my steps. It’s incredible how life goes by—people were rushing around me, trying to reach their destinations quickly, while I took the time to photograph and calmly contemplate the landscape. This moment was eye-opening; we get so caught up in our routines that we don’t have time to focus on the small yet meaningful details of life.
On the opposite side, the landscape was also set to capture the eye; the waves crashed again and again against the rocks, producing a sound that was pleasing to the senses. I watched closely as the sun bathed these waters in its rays. The glow looked magnificent in the photos. These natural wonders remain there every day, but precisely because of that, we don’t fully appreciate them.
Discovering the essence of life is part of the process of maturing that I’m going through at this stage. Now I prefer to invest my time in activities that bring me fulfillment, knowing that everything is fleeting and, for that reason, I must focus on being grateful each day for the moments I get to enjoy.

La comunidad de Caigüire es una zona muy concurrida en la ciudad, sobre todo, por su proximidad con la playa, la principal fuente de ingresos de los pescadores, sus familiares y demás habitantes del sector. Desde donde estoy se observa el cerro Pan de Azúcar, imponente como de costumbre. Las colinas se alzan para ofrecer vistas encantadoras desde este lado. A lo lejos se perciben algunas casas ubicadas en la montaña, personas que prefieren ubicarse en las faldas de este cerro a irse lejos de la ciudad.
Mientras caminaba, la brisa acompañaba mis pasos, es increíble cómo la vida transcurre, las personas se desplazaban a mi alrededor buscando llegar rápido a algún destino, en cambio me dediqué a fotografiar y contemplar el paisaje con calma. Este momento fue revelador, nos sumergimos tanto en nuestra rutina que no se dispone del tiempo para fijar la atención en los pequeños y significativos detalles de la vida.
Del lado opuesto, el paisaje también estaba puesto para capturar miradas, las olas chocaban una y otra vez contra las rocas y producían un sonido agradable a los sentidos. Observé con detenimiento cómo el sol bañaba con sus rayos estas aguas. El brillo quedaba magnífico en las imágenes. Estas maravillas naturales permanecen allí cada día, pero justamente por ello no se disfruta con intensidad.
Descubrir la esencia de la vida es parte de la madurez por la que estoy pasando en esta etapa. Ahora prefiero invertir el tiempo en actividades que me satisfagan, con la certeza de que todo es perecedero y, por tal razón, hay que centrarse en agradecer cada día por disfrutar los instantes.
