The Colorful Butterfly of the Cinta Costera (Eng/Esp)i

Walking along the Cinta Costera at dusk is a wonderful experience for the senses. The colors—both of the sky and the boulevard’s lighting—lift your spirits, especially when the sea serves as the backdrop for this visual spectacle. Here you’ll find a striking metal butterfly that’s one of the highlights because there’s a bench at its base where you can take photos.

I’ve passed by several times in the morning, and the structure looks lifeless—just intertwined metal tubes. But at night, everything changes; this butterfly becomes a major attraction. It fascinated me from afar, and when I got closer, I witnessed something dazzling. The colors are beautiful, as if it were a Gothic stained-glass window glowing from above.

The contrast among the people visiting the Cinta Costera is also evident; at this time of day, there are quite a few people in the area—at the padel and beach volleyball courts, as well as at the exercise equipment—and many young people were there. There were so many people that there was a line to take photos with the butterfly.

The most impressive thing is the vibrancy of the entire scene—the illuminated butterfly against the setting sun. The chromatic spectacle was worthy of a work of art. For my part, I stood there for a while watching the horizon, that moment when the sky shifts from red to orange, then to yellow, until it fades like a dim candle in a gust of wind.

After witnessing that moment, I turned my attention back to the artificial light, the butterfly, and the people enjoying the atmosphere, and then continued my walk through the area, taking the opportunity to reflect on the essence of life.

Caminar por la Cinta Costera durante el anochecer es una experiencia maravillosa para los sentidos. El colorido, tanto del cielo como de la iluminación de boulevard influye en el ánimo y más cuando el fondo de este espectáculo visual es el mar. Acá se encuentra una vistosa mariposa de metal que resulta una de las atracciones más destacadas porque en su base está un asiento para tomar fotografías.

He pasado en varias ocasiones en horas de la mañana y la estructura luce inerte, tubos metálicos entrelazados. Pero en la noche todo cambia, esta mariposa se transforma en una gran atracción, desde lo lejos me fascinó y cuando me acerqué fui testigo de algo deslumbrante. El colorido es agradable, como si fuera un vitral gótico alumbrando desde lo alto.

También el contraste entre las personas que acuden a la Cinta Costera es evidente, a esta hora se observa bastante público en esta zona, en las canchas de padel y de vóleibol de playa, allí también están los aparatos para hacer ejercicio y muchos jóvenes estaban allí. La cantidad de personas era tal que había una fila para tomarse fotos con la mariposa.

Lo más impresionante es el colorido de toda la imagen, es decir la mariposa iluminada frente a un sol que se ocultaba, el espectáculo cromático era digno de una obra de arte. Por mi parte, me quedé un rato observando el horizonte, el instante cuando el cielo cambia de rojo a naranja, luego a amarillo hasta apagarse como una tenue vela ante una ráfaga de viento.

Luego de presenciar este momento, volví a enfocarme en la luz artificial, en la mariposa y en la gente entusiasmada con este ambiente, para luego continuar mi recorrido por este lugar, aprovechando para reflexionar sobre la esencia de la vida.
