Hello everyone, as you know that I am a man who is over fifty and has a wife and two young daughters, I have learned over time that rest is not always something that involves sleeping well and going somewhere exciting. It can be something as simple as we don't even try to imagine. During the time when everyone is asleep when I come to the kitchen and see the mess that was caused in the evening. I do not complain about it because I find it quite therapeutic to clean up the mess.
The dishes are not an activity that I would consider rest but it is something that I look forward to doing in the evenings. I do not think that my wife should do all household works it's our family and we all should take a part in it. Also as a father of I need to set great examples for my daughters. However, during the day my brain is busy with hundreds of things to think about about my job and other things. So I am in need for some form of relaxation. When I wash the dishes, I do not have to think about anything else except the plate that I am washing.
Other times I would like to sit at the dining table after my daughters have finished doing their homework. I clean up their toys which is usually spread in their room. I had to discipline them to do their own chores which is not a easy thing. During these times I do not feel bothered just wondering how short is life and my daughters are growing faster. Honestly, I don't like to use my phone to kill time, I enjoy spending time with my family. But I do understand some alone time is also necessary and I find it difficult to convince myself to take a break.
At my age, I have been brought up to believe that idleness is the root of all evil. I thought everything that I did had to have a purpose and if it did not then it was a waste of time. But as I have grown older and gained more experience now I know the fact that rest is necessary for my well being. Different people find peace in different things and I find it in cleaning things. Which could be a plate in my kitchen counter for a few minutes or cleaning the mess in rooms. Sometimes it is hard to find time to do it all and still be a responsible family man.
