Despair is what leads me down this path; the desolate streets of Okinawa lie before my heart’s eyes. How can one comprehend such heartbeats? How beautiful it is, and how depressing it can become—that is the question; that is the path; those are the hidden doors.

Gracias por esperar; estuve esperando por mucho tiempo esta maravillosa vista del sufrimiento pasivo, entender a tales grados me hizo ver que lamentablemente; la vida y mi mente; no son los mismos. Has cambiado; has progresado; pero ¿a que costo? ¿valió la pena? No, eres infeliz ante la felicidad. ¿No es esto lo que buscabas? No es el lugar correcto.

Thank you for waiting; I’ve been waiting a long time for this wonderful glimpse of passive suffering. Understanding it to such an extent made me realize that, unfortunately, life and my mind are not the same. You’ve changed; you’ve grown; but at what cost? Was it worth it? No, you’re unhappy in the face of happiness. Isn’t this what you were looking for? This isn’t the right place.

He llegado tarde; tan tarde como haber llegado para la cena una noche. No dejamos de sentirnos mal y de buscar las formas de sentirnos peor. Ante nosotros yacerá siempre una puerta hacía la perdición y el perdón; pero con un sentimiento nostálgicamente fuerte que cargaríamos constantemente. Este es el precio de andar por las puertas de Okinawa; este es el precio al que lamentablemente acudiremos para sentirnos en calma por solo unos cuantos minutos.

I’ve arrived late; so late that it’s as if I’d shown up for dinner one night. We can’t help but feel bad, and we keep looking for ways to feel even worse. Before us will always lie a door leading to ruin and forgiveness; but with a deeply nostalgic feeling that we would constantly carry with us. This is the price of walking through the gates of Okinawa; this is the price we will unfortunately pay just to feel at peace for a few short minutes.
