Hello, friends of Hive and Hive Garden. I hope you’re all doing well. Today I’d like to share with you that we’re already harvesting peppers from the seedbed I set up a few months ago. In my last update, I showed you the peppers and flowers on the plants, and we’ve already been able to pick some and use them in cooking.
The whole area around the front of the house, the porch and the garage looks like a plant nursery with all the plants they have, and although I prefer the ones that actually bear fruit, the ones she has make the house look prettier and full of life.
As soon as you walk into the garage, there’s a large clump of red ixoras, and there are some along the path to the patio too. She used to have them in various colours, but now she only has red ones. Another plant she has by the garage is one called lucky flower, which is a type of succulent that produces tiny red flowers, and in the garden she has one that they call 11 o’clock flower here, which comes in various colours too. That plant is quite striking because it grows like a shrub and is always full of flowers. Right now she has white, fuchsia and pink ones.
The ‘La Bella a las 11’ is in the garden, as the name suggests, and shares the space with a bush known locally as the desert rose, which is currently in full bloom. It has pink flowers, but there is also a red one that hasn’t bloomed yet.
And the porch is where she has the most; on a little table, for example, she has one called resurrection flower—it’s a small plant with broad, lush leaves that produces little purple flowers—and hanging in the shady spot she has some called tortuguita, which come in various colours: red, fuchsia, orange and yellow. Those little plants always have plenty of flowers; I don’t think I’ve ever seen them without any.
On the wall opposite where those are, she also has several purple clover plants, which really catch the eye because the leaves are dark purple and they have small white flowers. She also has several wax flower plants; right now only the pink ones are in bloom, and on either side of those there’s another one called Coral Rain, which comes in yellow and red; she brought those from my mum’s house and they’ve really taken to the spot.
In the garden, there’s the path I told you about with ixora bushes, and underneath a large lemon tree there are various species of orchids; right now the Dendrobium orchid is in bloom—it’s the one that grows on long stems with a cluster of several flowers—and there are also about five types of lilies, though they aren’t in bloom at the moment.
But I also have my own flowering plants, such as sweet peppers, tomatoes, Chinese chives and spring onions, which aren’t as pretty as my mother-in-law’s, but they provide us with food, and I like that better.

Hola amigos de Hive y de Hive Garden, espero que todos estén muy bien. Por aquí todavía mi papá recuperándose y los últimos días han sido fuertes y no he estado activo por aquí pero vi que hay una actividad especial para hablar de las flores de nuestros jardines pero los que ya me conocen saben que no tengo matas de adorno sino árboles frutales, verduras y vegetales que sirvan para cocinar en la casa, pero la suegra si tiene la casa llena de matas decorativas entonces voy a participar y les voy a enseñar las que están florecido ahorita.
Todo lo que es la entrada de la casa, el porche y el garaje parece un vivero de tantas matas que tienen y aunque a mi me gustan más las que produzcan estas que ella tiene hacen que la casa se vea más bonita y con mucha vida.
En el garaje apenas tu entras tiene una cepa grande de ixoras rojas, y también tiene en el camino al patio. Antes tenía de varios colores pero ahorita nada más tiene rojas. Otra que tiene ahí por el garaje es una que se llama flor de la fortuna, que es un tipo de suculenta que echa unas flores rojas pequeñitas, y en el jardin tiene una que aquí le dicen bella a las 11 y tiene en varios colores también. Esa mata es bien llamativa porque crece como un arbusto y siempre tiene muchas flores. Ahorita ella tiene blancas, fucsia y rosadas.
La bella a las 11 está en el jardin como tal y comparte espacio con una mata que aquí se conoce como rosa del desierto y ahorita tiene bastantes flores. Ella tiene de color rosado, pero también tiene una roja que todavia no ha florecido.
Y en el porche es donde más tiene, en una mesita por ejemplo tiene una que se llama flor de la resurrección es una mata pequeña con hojas anchas y abundantes que echa unas florecitas moradas, y colgadas en la parte con sombra tiene unas que se llaman tortuguita y esa las tiene de varios colores: roja, fucsia, naranja y amarillo. Esas maticas siempre tienen bastante flores, creo que nunca las he visto sin nada.
En la pared del frente a donde están esas tienen también varias de trébol morado que también llaman mucho la atención porque las hojas son moradas oscuras y tienen unas flores blancas pequeñas, también tiene varias matas de flor de cera, ahorita está florecida solo la rosada y a los lados de esa tiene otra que se llama Lluvia de coral y de esas tiene amarillas y rojas, esas se las trajo de casa de mi mamá y le pegaron.
Para el patio, hay el camino que les dije con matas de ixora y debajo de una mata grande de limón tiene distintas especies de orquídeas, ahorita está florecida la orquídea Dendrobium una que echa con unas varillas largas con un racimo de varias flores, y también tiene como 5 tipos de lirios pero no están florecidas ahorita.
Pero yo también tengo mis matas con flores como las de pimentón, tomate, cebollin chino y cebollin común que no son tan bonitas como las de la suegra pero nos sirven de alimento y eso me gusta más.
