Lunchtime arrived while I was at the office. Suddenly, I felt a strong urge to go home and enjoy my mother’s cooking—it’s simple, but I love it. It felt like it had been such a long time since I last ate her food. Just then, my mother called to say she had prepared ayam lengkuas (galangal-spiced chicken) at home and invited me over for lunch. I decided to head home for a bit; luckily, my office isn't very far away—only about a 10-minute ride by motorcycle.
And finally, today I was able to enjoy my mother's galangal chicken again. When I got home, she was already preparing the fried chicken. She was frying the seasoned chicken, but I had no idea what was put into it.

I also helped fry some of the chicken, while I noticed that the lady was busy preparing the sambal (chili sauce). I’m sure this spicy sambal paired with the galangal-fried chicken will taste absolutely delicious.

The moment I saw the chili sauce, my appetite instantly grew. I couldn't wait to dig in—especially with the fried chicken still piping hot, ready to be dipped into that spicy sauce. I’m so eager to enjoy it! Alright, I’ll go get ready and change my clothes first. Oh, and I’m also preparing a refreshing drink to go along with the meal.

Once I had changed into my loungewear, I immediately prepared a plate with rice and side dishes, not forgetting to include a drink—all arranged neatly. Before digging in, I took a photo, as I found the meal truly delicious. Even though it was simple, I really loved it.
Everything is ready now—let’s dig in! I’m going to start by eating the fried chicken. It’s incredibly tender, and the seasoning has really penetrated deep inside. I must say, my mother is truly skilled at making this fried chicken.

Apart from having fried chicken, mother also cooks fried tempeh. Fried tempeh which has been coated with very delicious spices. Tempeh is also very crunchy.

and this is how it feels when I enjoy my mother's cooking, the savory, spicy and slightly sweet chili sauce while the tempeh is also very crispy and also very soft inside, plus the warm rice makes me want to enjoy it even more, and don't forget to drink my favorite drink, a refreshing drink that is very suitable to drink when eating spicy food like this.
