Daily 5 minute message-A very scary movie!- 31 Octubre 2026

Some films stay in our minds as the most terrifying ones. I had just begun my university studies in Caracas when a group of friends invited me to the cinema; I had never seen a horror movie before.

I vaguely recall my older sister watching a 1970s television series called Wuthering Heights—which was actually about vampires—that I wasn’t allowed to watch. Since we shared a room, I would pretend to be asleep while she watched it. The sounds alone terrified me, and naturally, I couldn’t sleep afterward—until I eventually gave myself away by being dead tired.

I also remember a Friday the 13th film. I recall jumping right out of my seat—along with the 60 other people in the theater—when the killer suddenly lunged from the water to finish everyone off. It was completely unexpected, especially since everything had been calm, and it had seemed as though the characters were safe in their little canoe. It’s something I’ve never forgotten, and I don’t think I ever went to the cinema to see a horror movie again.

I was simply too young and impressionable; that kind of film left an indelible mark on me.
