Welcome to Verkeån Agusa-Hallamölla Nature Reserve!

Happy sunday my amazing peeps💝

Another week has passed and soon a new week starts 🙈 work.. NO!

Anyone else feel like that on sundays? Not yet.. Please!

But good thing is that you can do things that makes you Smile.

Like this post I didn't plan but when I looked back at last summers pictures and realize I hadn't shared them yet.

IMG_20240715_135312_edit_1032239263398216.jpg

I knew I just had to 😉

I went with my parents to Hallamöllas Nature Reserve that has a fantastic view and pretty envirement.

The first post I did that was from this place was the coffe house.

This post 👉 click here

And next will be all waterfall, but this is about a hilly landscape with lots of woodland and big rocks.

But we start at the beginning!

Let's walk together shall we?

IMG_20240715_134550.jpg

IMG_20240715_134448_edit_1032847079499164.jpg

We start at the sign that tells you were to go and also tells you what kind of fish you can find here if you want to explore that and go fishing.

IMG_20240715_134509_edit_1032799408923130.jpg

This sign says that :

Migrating from the sea to the Verkeån River to spawn.

In the autumn you can see their impressive jumps when they try to climb up the waterfall in Hallamölla but without any success

Upstream of the mill there is a stationary brook trout population.

Sea trout and brook trout are the same species but they adapt their appearance to the environment in which they live

A little fishy information 😜 lol

And here are some interesting info and history about this place.

You are in Verkeåns western reserve, Agusa-Hallamölla.
And here, Linderödsåsen, Jären and Andrarumsåsen is stretching out in a hilly landscape with lots of forests.

IMG_20240715_134547.jpg

The Verkeån River winds its way through the reserve. It is unusually clean and species rich for a Skåne river in an agricultural area.

Shady trees and cool ground- water keep the temperature down in the summer, and swamp forests along the river's banks act as small purification plants.

Unusual fish and insects thrive in this clear, oxygen-rich water.

Alun mill

The old Alum Mill in Andrarum was the largest industry in Skåne in the 18th century and it has left its mark on the nature.

Slate was quarried from the ground and alum was extracted from it.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the landscape was almost completely devoid of forests because alum production consumed so much

But in the steep ravines by the river, the trees were allowed to remain and became a haven for the forest's plants and animals.

IMG_20240715_141523_edit_1030407114223495.jpg

This Mill is right by the water and it has a big wheel on one side into the water but I never really managed to capture that as to many trees and branches was in my way 😜 lol

But the enviroment all around this place is just incredlebly pretty.

  • For a while I was expecting a tribe of Gnomes to parade through the forest at some point. My mistaken imagination. I've imagined in my mind the sould effects of forest sounds, babbling water etc, rustling of leaves... my scrolling finger got tiref afte this long hike. Thanks for the tour Sis ❤️ !LADY !LUV

This place seems oddly nostalgic to me, like a happy childhood memory of a perfect summer day hiking in the forest. It is such a great feeling walking down a new trail, not sure what lies around the bend, sun shining, birds chirping, and the sounds of a waterfall up ahead. I wonder, was there any explanation for the small cave and its purpose?

  • @markone85(68)· 447d

What beautiful nature just over 1500 kilometers north. Alun mill reminds me for ours watermills, which were used to grind wheat into flour. Some date back to the Ottoman period. But that's a little further south in my country. We have windmills here in my province. You gave me an idea, I'll have to visi watermills and windmills.

Woah, what an amazing nature tour you had there the place is very similar to one of our local mountain resort here in the Philippines. The resort is full of preserve wildlife like fruitbats massive fruitbats, fresh water fishes which some are commonly called "Tilapia", and many more. The resort has rivers, ponds, man-made pools, and it is well known to it's name Mambukal Resort because it has hot springs due to it's location is beside Mount Kanlaon a well known volcano here. God bless to you hoping to see more nature trips from you. 😇

  • @thisismylife(77)· 447d

Again, a lovely piece of nature you shared here! I think in my whole life I've never seen a waterfall up close, we went to an excursion in Turkey once, but I don't think I actually saw the waterfall there either, or I don't remember. What a shame, I think they're so relaxing to listen to!

Thanks for sharing sis, I hope you had a great weekend !LADY !PIMP

Looks beautiful. I've been looking into a trip in that part of the world. My family came from The Orkneys to Loreburn in the 1800's so I need to go there too.

Thanks for the tour through the nature reserve. What a beautiful and peaceful place. I loved some of the rock formations and their different colors. :)
