Our community shirt was supposed to arrived during my birthday, but it got delayed by a week.

There were still around 2 months remaining before the year ended, but I can say that the year 2026 has been a good year for me. That is not to say that everything is sunshine and rainbows. I also experienced a lot of hardships, a couple of failures, and instances of unfulfilled expectations, but despite all of this, I still continue living my life.

Anyway, the month of October was my birth month, and for the past decade or so, I mainly spent my birthday just like any other day. Sometimes my mom would cook my favorite food, and we would eat together with my sister, but there was nothing overly fancy that we did during the day, as the sentiment was more than enough for me. It's not that I don't want to be with people, but dealing with the aftermath of the celebration was always a hassle.

This year, though, things got a little busy and in a positive way.

The day before my birthday, we got to watch the Unshatter Documentary, which tells the story behind Linkin Park's return after a 7-year hiatus after the death of Chester Bennington. For most of the part, the documentary was able to answer many of the questions I had about why they decided to continue the band.

After the show, we grabbed a quick dinner, and then we moved to a cafe because coffee is life, and women always have a separate space for dessert. Of course, we also took this time to talk about the film we watched, and by the time we were done, it was already 11 PM. Since she had a flight the next day, I had to take her back to the hotel where she was staying, so she could get some rest before her departure.

After that, I quickly went home. It was already 12:30 AM, so it was already my birthday. But if you think that I went home to rest, that was where you were wrong because, immediately, I took a quick bath and changed into my running clothes so that I could start my new birthday tradition, which is to run a total distance that is equivalent to my age. So since I just turned 33, I have to run a total of 33 kilometers. After almost 4:30 hours, I finished my run, but it doesn't stop there yet, because I prepared a simple breakfast to share with my running friends. Thankfully, our friend who was also a freelance photographer was always there to capture our moments.

With this, you might think that I am already done with the day, but I still have something else to do. After taking a bath and a few hours of rest, I dressed once again to watch the October Music Fest presented by Tau Gamma Phi for their 58th anniversary. I am not a part of any fraternity, but this concert was made open to all people, so long as they purchased a ticket.

There were 10 bands that played in the concert, but the one I am most excited to see perform was my friends at Setsuna, who also play Nu metal music, have Linkin Park as one of their influences, and were the main act of the concert.

While we were chatting with them, each of the band members suddenly wished me a happy birthday, which surprised me since I did not tell them that it was my birthday that day, but I guess they saw it on Facebook

After some time, it was finally their time to perform. From the sound check to the last song, the band performed really well, and they even performed one of their unreleased songs for the first time at this event, which made me feel really lucky to be among the first people to hear a new song from them.

And those were the best highlights of October for me. To be with friends with whom I shared similar hobbies and to start a new tradition on my birthday. Probably the best birthday that I ever had, but I guess I also exhausted myself because I got sick the very next day. Like I told you, things were great, but I also experienced a lot of hardship.

That was it for this post. Thank you, and see you at the next one.
