Hello, there! **@saydie** here, playing **Splinterlands** everyday!

After yesterday's maintenance, Splinterlands has added yet another game modifier to the game. I am planning to write a post about it, but I have yet to have a match involving the new game modifier, so that might take either tomorrow or before the week ends. Instead, I have to ask if anyone has had a match with Shades of Grey as part of the active ruleset recently? Cause while I am checking all my battles, I seem to notice that it hasn't appeared in my battles, whether it was in ranked battles, in brawls, or even in tournaments.
And if that was the same for other players, then it could be another case of a ruleset that was sunsetted from the current ruleset circulation.

Shades of Gray

Including the recently added game modifier, Splinterlands now has a total of 82 Game Modifiers. This is if we include all the seasonal rulesets as well as all the inactive ones. As you all know, game modifiers are a vital part of the game, as it changes the conditions that could affect the result of every battle. Depending on which rulesets are at play can dramatically influence what cards players will use, as they have to adapt their tactics on the fly so that they can win the battle. So, it is not an exaggeration to say that the Game Modifiers can sometimes pose more of a threat than your opponent.
And while checking on my previous battles on Survival mode, I noticed that Shades of Grayhas not even shown up once in any of the 100 survival battles that I played. I find that weird, so I also checked all my modern battles, as well as my brawls and tournament matches, but found none of the said ruleset.
Shades of Gray

You can only summon neutral units.
Shades of Gray is a ruleset that restricts the use of units to only of those with Neutral attribute. That said, you can still use Archons under a different element, so long as they were part of the active ruleset. If we look at it right now, excluding Foundation cards, there are a total of 49 cards in Modern Format with the Neutral Element that can be played under Shades of Gray ruleset. More than enough cards, in my opinion, to be played when the ruleset was active, so I do not think that the ruleset was pulled out because there are not enough cards to play.

I also do not think that the ruleset was pulled out because the Bloodline Mechanic not being utilized, because the elements do not matter in the mechanic; what matters is that the unit shares the same bloodline as the Archon, and the Archon has dominion over the unit. Same with dual-element Archons, because regardless of the element, you can still summon Neutral cards.

Closing
At the end of the day, I am still wondering what the reason is why Shades of Gray was removed from the current ruleset circulation. There are more than enough cards to be played during the ruleset, and having the ruleset will just add more utility to Neutral cards, which may even translate to their market value. And if nothing else, having more rulesets to play will just enrich the game, which is why new rulesets are being added every time.
So, I find it weird if the ruleset was really, but if it just appears in my battle for whatever reason, then I hope that someone can send me their recent battle with the ruleset on it.
Thank you, and see you on the next post!
