An October release for the album is looking more and more unlikely, but I am wondering if that’s not a good thing.
Having that as the original deadline was a good idea because I got my ass in gear for 2 weeks and recorded the majority of what needed to be recorded.
Since it looks like I’ll be mixing on my own, there will be no shortcuts, I’ll have to spend countless hours on each song. Working at the pace I was last week for two months is not sustainable, but I am going to try and finish a major task or two every week. Meanwhile I will do a lot more promotion than I planned to do.
So this week I’ll finally finish the lyrics to the last full song I’ve yet to finish and an interlude between songs.
Then next week I will fix the bass and finish the final mix for a song called “Phantom” which no one has heard yet, and “To Know Where” which you can hear a live version of on the live album.
The week after that I plan on finishing the final mix of the next single.
And the week after that I plan on recording the last full song and the remaining 2 interludes, and mixing those two interludes.
So by September 20 I plan on having all 4 songs and 3 interludes completely mixed, which leaves 3 songs to finish mixing.
When I lay it out like that we actually might finish in time, but that requires us to keep a fair bit of momentum, and I haven’t even mentioned all the promotion I’ll be doing.
I’ve been doing a little campaign where if people use scrobble.life to leave comments on my songs, I buy $5 of Hive per song per person. 17 people did that so that’s $85 USD of Hive. We still have 4 more songs to go on the live album and I may do the same thing for the EP. It’s fun to tell the backstory of how the song got written or what the lyrics are about, and making a post on each single song gives me that chance.
I really appreciate everyone who listened to the songs, I went from 3-4 listens to about 40 listens on both songs we tried. I didn’t have many listens because most people I know stream music on Apple or Spotify.

I want to get a new music video ready for the first single on this new album by the time the second single releases.
Today I did some more experimental short videos (mostly remixing older videos or improving audio/video on my most recent short) to see how they felt and how they performed with the recorded music vs. the live recordings I’ve used recently.

They performed surprising well on YouTube, better than anything I’ve shared on my music account, about 1k views each but I do not think those views are a great indication of how much interest people have in the music.
1000 people saw it but only 100 watched longer than a second or two, and only 10 probably watched the whole thing. That’s watch numbers on YouTube shorts for you 🥲🥲
I do however feel this is probably a great indicator that people stay on the video a little longer when my music is recorded and mixed well enough, and that live music audio captured on an iPhone, however clear, is fighting an uphill battle there.
I plan to make another 3-4 of these around the release of the single before I make a full music video.
Tomorrow I guess we’ll get back to scrobbling and I can write about more songs, which is fun for me.
