Hello hivers, an happy Saturday to you all!
Today I started the weekend walking along the street of my city (Pistoia, Italy) with my mom. She came here soon in the morning from the village where she lives (not so far from my city, just 20 minutes by bus) to buy something in the shops in the center. Walking around we watched a special corner in the main square called Piazza del Duomo. There was a green grass corner full of plants, because during this weekend there are some events called "Another park in the city".
Since 5-6 years, in September, this event celebrates the urban greenery and during the days it transforms corner of my city into open-air gardens with many different events like talks, music, workshops for children and other ones. For all the weekend we can see natural lawns and mature trees between the ancient buildings and on some squares.
The focus of all the events are on themes like urban regeneration and the relationship between the environment and the community. I just read that 4 different squares will be covered with a carpet of turf spanning approximately 3,000 square meters! Just to know, at the end of the event, the turf will be relocated and, over the years, it has successfully regenerated over 14,000 square meters of green space!
You have to know that in my city the plant nursery industry is a primary economic activity, and the city is one of Italy's most important centers in this sector, so you can understand why the main manager of this event is a plant nursery located here. 😉
