Hello hivers, an happy Wednesday to you all! Today, after a lot of dry days and after more than 2 months over 30C, it's raining and the temperatures fallen down like a normal September weather here in my area!
Some days ago, waking outside of my city in a small village on the hill, I collected some ripe pods of the Lunaria annua. Here in Italy we call this ripe pods "medaglie del Papa" that literally means "medals of the Pope" and when it's the right time it's common to see a bunch of them in a vase on the living of the house. They reminds me my childhood when I used to walk with my mom to collect them to decor our home and so, when I found them, I did the same.
This morning, as usual, I woke up soon to work with my brushes and I decided to paint something about those ripe pods. I just finished to paint it so I can show you the final result:
I read that outside of my country the common name of the plant is "Honesty" and I like it so much (and not just because it reminds me one of my favorite song by Billy Joel 😁). This is a mixed media painting on cardboard. I used the black tempera color for the background and the oil colors to paint the subjects. As usual I took some pics while I was painting it so you can see the process too:
