Musical Monday: Kiara (Spn / Eng)

This week marks the end of August 2026 and the start of September 2026—beginning tomorrow, Tuesday—so I wish you days filled with happiness, because if we are happy, it means everything else is going well. For this occasion, I am sharing three lovely songs by a Venezuelan artist who first gained national recognition in the second half of the 1980s. She continued her career as a singer, actress, and broadcaster throughout the 90s and has remained active to this day, and this initiative (MUSICAL MONDAY) is the perfect place to share them, a space hosted by @eugelys.

The singer I am talking about is MELISSA—known by the nickname "THE QUEEN OF ROCK"—who made her debut on the Venezuelan music scene of that era with, naturally, rock songs. She possessed a very distinct and unique style that identified her with that genre, alongside a beautiful, pitch-perfect voice that allowed her to perform both rock tracks and ballads.

KIARA entró formalmente a la escena musical venezolana en el año 1988, cuando debutó con disco homónimo, es decir el vinilo KIARA, en donde están varios de los éxitos que ella tuvo en ese tiempo. Esta cantante es muy versátil, ya que no sólo se dedicó al canto, sino también a la actuación, participando en diversas telenovelas venezolanas. Así mismo ha tenido una trayectoria como locutora. Sus canciones sonaron mucho en la radio de los 80 y 90, y ella también participó en muchos programas televisivos y eventos musicales de aquel entonces, así que yo oí muchas de sus canciones, y obviamente las canté muchas veces. Dicho lo anterior, a continuación les presento mis tres canciones de hoy.

KIARA formally entered the Venezuelan music scene in 1988, debuting with a self-titled album—the vinyl record KIARA—which featured several of the hits she enjoyed at the time. She is a highly versatile artist; beyond her singing career, she also worked as an actress, appearing in various Venezuelan telenovelas, and has had a career as a radio broadcaster. Her songs received heavy airplay on the radio during the 80s and 90s, and she frequently appeared on television programs and at musical events from that era; consequently, I heard many of her songs—and, naturally, sang along to them often. With that said, here are my three song choices for today.

Kicking off this MUSICAL MONDAY, I’m bringing you the song “QUIERO UN ÁNGEL”, which was part of KIARA’s second album, titled Buscando pelea—an interesting track where the singer’s voice truly shines. Here is the audio.

The second song I am sharing today is "LUNA DE PLATA"—a beautiful track that can be inspiring when it comes to overcoming emotional pain or heartbreak. Here is a audio, I hope you enjoy it.

Y cerrando el MUSICAL MONDAY de hoy, les traigo una canción más contemporánea, en donde KIARA hace una colaboración con NOEL SCHAJRIS, quien formó parte del dúo SIN BANDERA. Esta es una canción de amor bonita, agradable, con el sello inconfundible de NOEL SCHAJRIS. La combinación de ambas voces es muy bonita, lo que le da un plus a esta melodía. To wrap up today's MUSICAL MONDAY, I’m sharing a more contemporary song featuring a collaboration between KIARA and NOEL SCHAJRIS (formerly of the duo SIN BANDERA). It is a lovely, pleasant love song that bears NOEL SCHAJRIS's unmistakable signature style. The blend of their voices is beautiful, adding something special to the melody.
