Throwback cycling while fasting on the very last day of Ramadhan 2026

I managed to cover 15 km!

Every year, there’s almost always a debate regarding the date of Eid al-Fitr. It's because there are several “camps” in Islam itself, as well as the use of different methods to determine exactly when the 1st Shawwal (Eid al-Fitr) falls. I always feel happy when we, as Muslims, celebrate this day of victory on the same day–just like last year.

However, unfortunately, the celebrations fall on different days this year. That being said, the very last day of my fasting coincided with Eid al-Fitr for some others. For me, it felt a bit strange because some people from my neighborhood were heading out for Eid prayers, while I was taking my bike out for a stroll.

But I think because of that difference, the street somehow felt quieter than usual. I was going out before six in the morning–a time when the roads are typically packed with people and vehicles. But that day, the traffic was less busy, creating a much calmer atmosphere. Since I was already off from work, I didn't need to rush at all.

I passed by my favorite neighborhood area, as always. Well that’s a lie, I don’t always cycle this specific route every time. But almost always, especially when I’m not in the mood to wander in the major thoroughfares.

At that time, I was even making a point of passing through this neighborhood on my way home from work. The atmosphere is just… feel so calm :”) cycling around here feels like free therapy for me.

I might exaggerate, but whenever I see those trees and greenery, I always feel a sense of wonder inside😂 Especially after rain, when the leaves look fresher and more vibrant with the water droplets–I just love it very much.

I think someone once commented on my previous cycling blog something along the lines of: “it’s always nice to see the city from a cyclist's perspective” and I couldn’t agree more! I wish I could capture the things I see while cycling even better and consistently share them here regularly.

I’m even thinking about starting my cycling journal; which sounds pretty fun to document this hobby. What do you all think? Do any of you have the analog version to track your habit instead of the digital one?

Anyway, I passed by a row of plant-shops and managed to snap a photo of this huge tree which looks so interesting. I also took a picture of the quiet street–there wasn’t that much vehicle so I didn’t worry about cars or motorcycles honking at me haha

Last but not least, I somehow managed to cover nearly 15 kilometers that day, so as usual I cycled around my house a bit to round out the distance to match my Strava log🤣 I can’t recall if I was even sweating or not, but I’m pretty sure cycling while fasting didn’t feel too hard for me.

Even though I wasn’t really consistent with cycling during Ramadhan, I still managed to go out every other day–I just never had a chance to share it here until now. Looking back, it fels good to have made the time for it hehe

That’s all for today. I’ve really been missing the atmosphere of Ramadhan a lot these days, so writing this somehow comforts me in a sense that I couldn’t even explain. Thanks for reading as always! Have a great day :) xx

Ahh, how I sometimes miss that slower rhythm of the quiet streets, perfect for enjoying on the bike. Always make sure to carry water on your rides, haha… I don’t see the bottle there, unless you had it in your hand.
