Some movies really shake you up and make you think about life. That is exactly what happens with The Pursuit of Happyness. It is not a made-up story just to make you cry, but a real look at what a regular person goes through when business fails and they suddenly find themselves without a single penny.

The story gets tough fast. Chris invests the little he has thinking about helping his family, but things do not go as planned. Seeing that there is not enough money even for rent, his wife leaves and abandons him alone with the boy. From then on, he has to move from place to place looking for a spot to sleep, from subway stations to homeless shelters, all while trying to stay strong for his kid.

The best part of the movie is seeing the relationship between that father and his little boy. Even though Chris is falling apart inside from exhaustion and worry, he always finds a way to make his son smile and feel like they are on an adventure. Will Smith's acting alongside his real son feels so genuine that it does not even feel like acting, but real life.

This story leaves a very clear message: sometimes life hits you hard and plans fall apart, but what makes the difference is your drive to get back up. Seeing how this man hit rock bottom and kept knocking on doors while holding onto his son reminds us that no matter how tough things get, with hard work and faith there is always a way out.
