Anniversary

- Post-apocalyptic undertones...
- A liberal family finds itself confronted by someone with extremely conservative views. I found that theme very interesting, regardless of where it ultimately went 😅.
- With a clever little wink, I think you could even call it timely?
- Gradual build-up of tension.
- For some strange reason, I actually liked the finale 😅🤷♂️.

- Post-apocalyptic undertones wrapped in an almost poorly constructed melodramatic plot.
- It tries to tackle too many issues, ultimately weakening its central message.
- Some of the performances felt mediocre to me.
- The pacing is uneven in places.
- While it wants to talk about the rise of fascism through the allegories it uses, it never really delves deeply into the problem.
300: Rise of an Empire
General Themistocles attempts to unite all the Greeks and launch an attack that will change the course of the battle. Themistocles will face the massive army of Xerxes, the mortal who became a god, and Artemisia, the bloodthirsty leader of the Persian navy. It isn't exactly a sequel to 300, but it takes place during the exact same period and uses similar elements, both technically and stylistically. Released in 2014. Is it worth watching?

- An enjoyable action film with visually impressive and well-choreographed battles.
- You know exactly what you're going to get when you watch it, provided you're in the right mood.
- Eva Green is a great choice as a powerful and ruthless presence, although her role is somewhat limited in terms of what she gets to do.
- That comic-book aesthetic works for me.
- Bloody in just the right amounts.
- It doesn't disrespect the core of the historical events, but uses them as a starting point to tell its own fictional story.
- If you liked the first movie, you'll enjoy the second one too.
- Very good cinematography.

- Some moments go a little too far and make you think, “Okay, come on” (like the horse on the ship toward the end of the movie).
- Sullivan Stapleton felt a little underwhelming to me in the role of Themistocles.
- The slow motion, Snyder's trademark, is kept here too, sometimes successfully and sometimes not.
- The only sex scene borders on caricature. I found it a little funny.
- The dialogue basically just fills the gaps between the battles, so that's not really what you're watching it for 😅.
- It doesn't bring anything new to the continuation of a movie that brought something different and fresh to graphic novel adaptations.
