The Death Of Robin Hood

The Death of Robin Hood

Meanwhile, this film is one of the clearest examples of why you shouldn’t let comments and reviews decide what you watch. You can take a look, get an idea of what it’s about, understand the vibe, but that’s where it should end. Tonight, after two months of reading conflicting opinions, I finally watched it, and for quite a while after the finale, I felt like I’d been hit by a truck.

The intense division surrounding the film is completely understandable. Many people called it “boring” or “slow,” mainly because they approached it with action-movie expectations: Logan with bows, John Wick in the woods, a heroic finale that would confirm a clear moral line. But the film doesn’t belong to that genre. It has movements, looks, and silences that say more than any dialogue ever could. It isn’t interested in providing catharsis or validating the viewer. Instead, it chooses a deeply human, almost stripped-down approach, culminating in a finale that is devastating precisely because it isn’t “heroic” in the traditional sense.

At the center of it all is Hugh Jackman, who continues, just as he did in Logan and now in Robin Hood, to demystify heroes in a way we rarely see in mainstream cinema. He portrays human deterioration as an art form: no spectacle, no catharsis, no “final battle.” Just truth. And it’s that truth that tears apart the viewer’s emotional world. And their soul.

In conclusion: Watch whatever draws you in and speaks to your heart. Don’t let the comments decide for you. Take them into consideration, sure, but the final decision should be yours.

I haven't watched this one yet but I do intend to.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is the movie I associate Robin Hood to.

I guess I will add also this one to my queue of movies to see. Sometimes transposing into older times makes me wonder if it wasn't better than compared to all the technology around us and all the stress factors we are interfacing with.
