Description
#running #parkrun #teamuk #sportstalk #proofofbrain I missed parkrun last week as I was at the drum show, but I was back today on Halloween. As you might expect there were a few people in costume, but not me. I had not realised that it was a pacer event. I might have volunteered for that, but I took the opportunity to have someone else set my pace.
The 26 minute pacer was one of two dressed as Beetlejuice so he was easy to spot. We also had some Day of the Dead and Scooby Doo. I just tried to stay with the pacer. He did speed up at times, but I know how easy it is to slip off the required pace. I stuck with him the first time, but after half way he did it again and I could not keep up. I just tried to keep going and not let the next pacer catch me.
It turned out to be a harder run than I was expecting, but my finish in 26:35 was good. I can see on Strava that I slowed down in the second half. I have not run much this week and that will have an effect. There were actually several guys of my age came in just before me. I had not had the results email, but they were up on the parkrun site.
I could not have given it any more today. I need to keep doing speed work if I want to improve.
I went to see a friend for coffee on the way home. I did jog some of the way.
I have a few jobs to do over the weekend, but will aim for a longer run tomorrow. We have our Move-mber challenge at work so I need to clock up some activity time.
Run free!
