ENGLISH CONTENT

Hello to everyone in this community and to all sewing enthusiasts! For some time now, I’ve wanted to make some crossbody bags—simple, usually square bags worn across the body. So, I went through my fabrics and picked out a few designs I liked, along with some zippers, and decided to give it a try, hoping to sell them at the markets I attend or through my online store.

As for materials, the following are required: for the front piece, cut a 9 x 22 cm rectangle from both the patterned fabric and the lining fabric; for the back piece, cut a 23 x 22 cm rectangle from both the patterned fabric and the lining fabric; a 20 cm zipper; and a strap measuring 1 cm wide and 1.26 m long to make the bag handle.

When moving to the sewing machine, begin by attaching the printed fabric and lining pieces to the zipper, starting with either the top or bottom section and then proceeding to the other. To ensure a secure hold, sew a straight stitch over the printed fabric on what will be the exterior of the bag.

Next, the lining fabric is sewn to the printed fabric (together forming the back panel of the bag) along the entire edge to secure the layers. This completes the front and back panels of the bag.

Next, sew the handle to the top of the front piece. Once this is done, place the front and back pieces together to mark a guide line for the subsequent stitching. After trimming the excess fabric, finish the edges with a zigzag or safety stitch, or alternatively, apply bias binding to cover the seams.

And just like that, the crossbody bag is finished ✨ Not only is it an easy sewing project that lets you make use of fabric scraps, but it’s also quite practical. This type of bag is ideal for carrying your phone, keys, and a small coin purse—perfect for keeping essentials handy when you don't want to carry a large bag.

I love how practical this size is for just running quick errands when you only need your phone and keys. Using up fabric scraps for projects like this is always so satisfying too.
